Acount banning vs. Ingame punishment (Discussion)
Why banning (scammers, spammers, foulmouths, etc.)? It seems a bit unfair. Shouldn't an ingame offence be punished ingame? Why not use annoying people to make gw more realistic and fun (at their expense)?
They could have an ingame trial (mission) where they would be randomly (or depending on their misdeed) condemned to complete unendingly boring quests.
- Merchants could refuse to sell them anything or only at horribly high prices
- Mobs would only drop droppings
- Guards could want to arrest them if they'd come too close, they would have to bribe them to get freed
- they could have their outfit changed, (shackles, convict look or "cangue" (dunno the english word) in Cantha) with only 30 armor rating
- the Xunlai would refuse them access to their bank accounts
- they could have their name advertised in towns, so that players could hunt them and get a huge reward.
- they could be condemned to forced labour, obliged to farm stuff for some Krytan public charity to buy their freedom.
- etc., etc.
- Why this is a good idea
- Let's RPG! Punishing them ingame could be viciously funny!
- I think it is a great idea (from an editor not the guy who wrote it). It would be awesome to see your face on a wall, WANTED-- REWARD- Axe of Unbearible Pain dm.18-26 ect.
- Why it may not work out
- Er...too sadistic?
- Some would scam only to have the cool convict outfit?
- (editor) why the hell do anyone who swears let me remind you something when you first play guildwars swearing comes out in **** ect and you can change it so you actually see the word therefore if someone can see you swearing its becuase they want to understand but for spamming ect i agree
- Too many people might quit after accidently making an offense or something.
