Dodging while attacking (Discussion)
It would be a good idea for Guild Wars 2 to be more like an FPS in all ways. This means no more "auto-aiming" and no more "1234" builds.
Players would have to aim manually with the mouse. Unlike in the current implementation, it would be possible to move while attacking, dodging, or casting. This encourages active use of skills, eliminating button mashing.
- Why this is a good idea
- Removes button mashing builds
- No more Build Wars. If you can't aim, you can't win.
- Adds another dimension of skill to the game.
- Fits in with skills working differently in different environments.
- Rewards active use of skills and quick thinking.
- People have a greater chance to win against mobs through skill.
- Effectively eliminates bot-farming. Since bots can't aim visually(at least not very well) they would not be able to aim properly or do damage.
- Why it may not work out
- Vector-based combat system may cause a lot of overhead on the server.
- Lag.
- Guild Wars is not an FPS, and a large change may alienate a lot of old players.
- Some people may QQ because they fail at FPS.
- Utterly retarded, completely reworks a functional system for minimal to nonexistent gain, lag, rubber-banding, half the pro points are wrong.
- There are other games meant for full on FPS and others arent. Wouldnt mind an FPS mode for rangers though
- As an almost hardcore player of Guild Wars, I say I'll hate this if it'll be like this. Guild Wars 2 is STILL Guild Wars! We don't need a new game system, we need Guild Wars!
- Additional notes
- Projectiles could vary in how fast they move.
- Some skills could be "guided", others would hit instantly or be undodgeable, so if you want a "1234" build you can make one. However it won't be as good as a build where you have to aim with the mouse.
