Muskets (Discussion)
This idea may seem too futuristic for the time setting of guild wars but there was technically not muskets in the 1400s so it is not very far off from the actual medieval setting of Guild Wars 2. In fact, when muskets like these were created they still used medievil type armor. When blacksmiths made armor they would shoot a pistol round into it, and when people bought armor they looked for the dent showing that this armor would stop a bullet. So primitive muskets are not too futuristic at all.
Simple grenades and cannons also preceded muskets, so the inclusion of them in some form might also be a good idea. It might also be fun to be able to use Canthan rockets and powder kegs as weapons in GW2.
- Why this is a good idea
- distinguishes GW2 from GW1 technologically
- previous examples of gun-related weapons already already exist in GW1 (powderkegs and siege turtle cannons, it follows that proceeding generations would have developed more weapons based on this technology
- a good way to make rangers evolve(As a part of a prestige class system! Rangers are 'One with the nature', so firearms would contradict it, but maybe a prestige ranger subclass...?)
- Why it may not work out
- Destroying the mood of GW1.
- If an action battle system is incorporated, it may be difficult to come up with an attack combo for the slow-firing musket.
- Too similar to other games.
- Guns are a bad idea ,but perhaps crossbows could be a possibility.
- over power guns are like dervish they are overrated compare a gun to a bow not so good don't you think
