Guild Prerequisites (Discussion)
Maybe this has been suggested previously in some form of another. I don't know. Or maybe it's under consideration already, but I have no way of knowing that.
My suggestion here would be to implement some kind of price or requirement for creating a new Guild. In GW1, there was next to no limits on doing this, besides the small prices involved, and that resulted in A LOT of "average joe" Guilds milling around.
- Possible requirement types
- A simple cost in gold to form the Guild
- A Guild Charter which must be signed by a minimum number of potential members before the Guild can be made
- A particular status or item obtained by the character making the Guild
- Why this is a good idea
- It would reduce the number of "average" Guilds, mostly leaving higher quality/more active ones, which would make recruitment far easier (and more fun)
- It would possibly reduce the chances of a Guild failing as it should be off to a relatively good start using one or more of the requirements listed above
- Reduce the amount of people with capes of different guilds. So less chaotic for players in towns and outposts.
- Why it may not work out
- Difficult to obtain, particularly for lowbies/newcomers, which might not make it too popular a system
- It has little difference between the current system in GW1
- Gets the fun out of just making a small "average joe" friend guild, just 4 u n ur friends. (making only the most serious guilds able 2 b created is ELITISM, which is a reason many other ideas r rejected.) I don't say we shouldn't make the price higher, but not make it too hard like all the comments here want, "average joe" guilds need 2 exist, just 4 making new friends, or communicating with friends in a better way.
- cause it's not like "average" guild r bad =P think bout it, I personally had a guild in GW1 that I created so every1 that just wants a guild could join it, n ppl did, n some of them did it, n told me they did it cause they r SICK of ELITE guilds that have some "guild events" like trying 2 GvG, n after that become anti-social... guilds r supposed 2 b FUN not 2 promote elitism...
