Aggro(local) area chat (Discussion)
I have found times when it would be nice to talk publicly but only people within a certain area can hear you like maybe the aggro bubble or something similar creatures a more realistic localized chat, which would also be more suited to just conversations as its unreasonable to advertise guilds and such to only such a small number of people in a small area then you could more easily as well have a group of people having a semi-private discussion together without others interrupting, and without their discussion interrupting others in their affairs. but of course this would not replace the "all" chat just go along beside it.
- Why this is a good idea
- Better suited for local chats and conversations
- Good for transient multi-person conversations (no /tell) that aren't enough to warrant use of any other channel features that may exist
- Reduces overall disruption
- Add another easy to use option for chat
- Helps with roleplay
- Lets groups talk in area of new non-instanced explorable areas (a compass-range chat level might be better for this)
- Why it may not work out
- Players may miss messages if they are moving about without the sender realizing (there could be visual pings on people's heads to indicate transmission received, but that could also be silly)
- Adds interface complexity and commands (though GW is extremely light on this in the chat department compared to World of Warcraft, City of Heroes, even Neverwinter Nights 1, and so forth already)
