Offline PC's in Guildhalls (Discussion)
Being in a small guild can be a great thing, but the guildhall tends to be deserted alot, which can be quite saddening. So my suggestion is that players have the option to make their character stand in the guildhall when the player is logged out. This function can at anytime be turned off by the guildleader, if he/she thinks the GH gets too crowded or whatever reason he/she may have, and a maximum number of offline characters would be set by Anet. I'll follow this up with a small list with further thoughts how this simple idea can be further expanded (Probably not as easy to implement though.):
Allow more than one character per player (Max. number can be set by guildleader, up to a max. se by Anet.) A small checkbox on the hero panel would decide what characters would be available offline. This could have the additional benifit of characters on the same account meeting each other (As by some unkown arcane reason my monk always manages to leave the GH just a split second before my warrior arrives. Puzzling.).
Each character could have an individual box similar to the guild's welcome message, so that when the offline character is clicked, a few words of wisdom is presented to the clicking player, lovingly brought by the clicked character's owner. This could be further expanded by letting the player type a different comment depending on who the reciever is. At its extreme, the options would be five: To the guildleader, to the officers, to guildmembers, to guests and to one specific player (secret messages, wooo!).
The offline characters could have designated spots in each guildhall, and the characters at these different spots would be coded to do some simple things as walking a small distance, pacing back and forth, smelling the flowers, scratch, dance or whatever offline characters tend to do. Perhaps the player could even have a list of emotes with checkboxes which the character would perform.
This coul perhaps act as a means for a personal in-guild action. The player could put up things they wanted to sell and the price to be met, and any member clicking the character would view the character as a store.
(Sorry for the lengthy input)
- Why this is a good idea
- Small guilds would/could feel more crowded
- Characters on the same account could "meet"
- The most simple part of this idea could perhaps be implemented in Guild Wars 1
- Why it may not work out
- Probably more nagging on the guildleader
- More squabbling between guildmembers
