Keeping the old 6 classes but add a new twist

Warrior

Ranger

Necro

Mesmer

elementalist

Monk

Give the person the ability to stay on one path to max him the best in that feild but add the following classes when a person chooses two professions

(Warrior/Ranger)(Ranger/warrior) = Barbarian (melee based)(Ranged based)

(Warrior/Necro)(Necro/Warrior) = Deathknight (Melee based)(Spell based)

(Warrior/Mesmer)(Mesmer/Warrior) = Beguiler (Melee based)(Spell based)

(Warrior/Elem)(Elem/Warrior) = Warmage (Melee Based)(Spell based)

(Warrior/Monk)(Monk/warrior) = Paladin (Melee Based)(Spell based)

(Ranger/Necro)(Necro/Ranger) = Shadow Archer (Ranged based)(spell based)

(Ranger/Mesmer)(Mesmer/Ranger) = Spellthief (Ranged Based)(Spell based)

(Ranger/Elem)(Elem/Ranger) = WildMage (ranged based)(Spell based)

(Ranger/Monk)(Monk/Ranger) = Forest Guardian (Ranged based)(spell based)

(Necro/Mesmer)(Mesmer/Necro) = Blighted illusionist (Spell Based)(Spell based)

(Necro/Elem)(Elem/Necro) = Warlock (Spell based)(Spell based)

(Necro/Monk)(Monk/necro) = Cleric (spell based)(Spell based)

(Mesmer/Elem)(Elem/Mesmer) = Geomancer (Spell based)(Spellbased)

(Mesmer/Monk)(Monk/Mesmer) = Divine trickster (Spell based)(Spell based)

(Elem/Monk)(Monk/Elem) = theurge (Spell based)(Spell based)


Now with these you have each clas et up different, Lets take the Paladin from the list up above If you choose to be a Warrior/Monk you will be speced for melee combat but will have some abilities to heal and bolster your allies, Now with that lets say you where a Monk/Warrior. now your healing abilities are your primary but you have some abilities of the warrior, As the paladin you would have the armor of the warrior (even the Monk/warrior) but your ability to tank would not be close to a pure warrior and your ability to heal will not be close to a pure monk. Lets take another exsample The Warlock Now if your Primary is elementalist you will be good direct dmg spells but if your primary is Necro you will be good at cursing and raising some undead but again you will not be as good as a pure necro or pure Elem but your ability at both makes up for this.

Why this is a good idea
  • This will allow people to To play a class that is more defined rather then min maxing certain classes
  • Your character will have more of a feel to it
  • I agree this would also keep the fun thing about GW
Why it may not work out
  • Some of the classes will not be balanced out at first
  • The ammount of classes might be a problem for balance issues
  • Players might chose only one or two branches and others will be descriminated against
