Pillaging Guilds (Discussion)
Give the option for one guild to invade another guild, whether or not that guild is online. Here's how it can work:
Guilds hire NPCs. These range from all sorts of races and professions. No 'elite' NPC will be allowed - this will make things fair and balanced for each side. A maximum of 12 NPCs are allowed per guild.
When a guild invades a hall, only the NPCs will go fourth with the invasion. No players will be allowed to directly pillage the other guild hall. Instead, players will be assigned control over an NPC, and fight with a fixed skillbar with health/energy/weapons.
Players can join during the invasion, so long as there are spare uncontrolled NPCs in that battle. If the NPC does not have a player controlling them, then AI will.
If invaders have more NPCs than the defending guild, the invaders can send no more than an extra two NPCs than the defenders number of NPCs. So if the defending base has 1 NPC, then the invaders can take up to 3 NPCs. NPCs can cost around 500g to hire.
- Winning/Losing
- If the invading guild wins, they gain 500g for each NPC killed. If any of their NPCs are dead after the match is over, however, those NPCs will claim that they are 'injured' and will be inactive until the guild pays for a healer. Healing NPCs costs 250g.
- If the defending guild wins, they become popular with the people that live nearby, and the guild will automatically gain NPCs equal to the number that they had defeated. If the defending team exceeds the maximum number of NPCs allowed, then they will dismiss the extra NPCs, gaining 500g per dismissal for the guild.
- If either guild loses, all of their dead NPCs will claim that they are 'injured' and become inactive in the guild until they are healed.
- The match will run on a timer. The winner is the one with the most living NPCs after the timer ends. If it is a draw, then no gold is given out at all.
Because players can join 'during' the battle, it makes initiating an invation that much more simpler. Only one officer is needed to start an invasion, and that officer will trigger a 10 minute timer that will inform his guild, and the defending guild that an invasion is about to take place. Once the 10 minute timer has begun, neither guild can purchase NPCs until the invasion is over.
Guilds always start with no NPCs. If a guild does not have any NPCs or they are all inactive (injured) then the guild is considered to be 'deserted' and cannot be invaded.
- Customizing NPCs
When an NPC is purchased, then they will be assigned a slot from 1 to 12. Hiring an NPC will have a similar interface to that of the character selection screen of GW1, and can only be accessed by the guild leader. The user can customise the look and gender of that NPC. That NPC will always occupy that slot whether or not they are active. This allows guilds to change NPCs if they don't like them for whatever reason. This allows guilds to customize the armor and weapon of the NPC, without affecting its stats. you could hire guild guards that help you fight when youre being raided to.
- Why this is a good idea
- Invading guild halls is fun
- Can't be abused so easily
- Makes alternate GvG, which is good if u don't personally have the best GvG build. I think the surprise part is really good here, because u have 2 customize the NPCs so they'll survive the invasion.
- Why it may not work out
- People can feel iritated when they're in the middle of a mission, and their guild suddenly gets attacked.
- Not everyone wants PvP
- This idea is rude and unfair to any guilds that are PvE based
