ArenaNet talk:Developer updates/20080821
This is far and away the most hilarious and unnecessary "skill balance" I've ever seen. It shows that someone is not doing their job correctly.--65.185.121.217 21:02, 21 August 2008 (UTC)
- For the love of everybody at ANet, just shut up already. Izzy HAD to kill off this skill, especially with the HA weekend incoming. If this skill wouldn't be nerfed, smiteball would be the only thing you would encounter. TA finally got a nudge as well. I'm sad to see the skill renders a fun build, useless, but there's still alternatives. And that's just the entire point of this update: ALTERNATIVES; LOOK FOR THEM (or even... you know... be creative for a change and make up a build of your own), DON'T WHINE ABOUT ONE SKILL GETTING MURDERED. That is all. (Saphatorael here, not signed in) 157.193.77.110 21:41, 21 August 2008 (UTC)
"20-second skill-disabling effect combined with its 10-second recharge made for frustrating gameplay for opponents" ... GET AWAY FROM MY D-SHOT! --Rayd 21:44, 21 August 2008 (UTC)
- Er, Disrupting Lunge isn't particularly easy to target with. It was great at the old 5s recharge, good at the 10s recharge, and is now pointless and will never be used again. - 68.229.250.165 21:54, 21 August 2008 (UTC)
- Srsly, if +20s disable + 10s recharge is baed, then following this logic we should expect DShot nerf. And assuming this would never happen (if only you won't decide to make all Rangers /ragequit GW) you should make a better explanation of Lunge's nerf. De1m0s 22:11, 21 August 2008 (UTC)
- More obvious explanation for nerfing the skill: Thumpers (or Packhunters, or Escape Axe Rangers (idk what they're called, left GW before this cookiecutter became popular) and other variants). Nuff said. Also, saying Rangers would ragequit after a nerf of Disr. Lunge=lol. Real and decent Rangers use bows, not pets and hammers. BlazeRick 22:18, 21 August 2008 (UTC)
- He said Dshot, no DLunge. I'll /ragequit if they nerf Dshot, it's just so pretty... --Rayd 22:36, 21 August 2008 (UTC)
- Yea, everything for DShot! =) And I didn't use Lunge, as whole Beast Mastery line. Looks worthless to me... and lame. De1m0s 01:52, 22 August 2008 (UTC)
- He said DLunge, not DShot; "you should make a better explanation of Lunge's nerf". But yes, I agree on the Dshot part, but I don't think Anet would be that crazy to /delete DShot. BlazeRick 02:36, 22 August 2008 (UTC)

- That's more than likely why it was changed, since rangers with pets usually use this, it was like they were carrying an unblockable, uninterruptible,(though how many times do you see an interruption of DShot?) 5 energy DShot. How many people would rage if ANet decided to make DShot unblockable? --70.118.65.182 04:19, 22 August 2008 (UTC)

- Well after years of saying "well its not entirely izzy's fault, the introduction of sins, rits, dervs and pars, as well as all their skills and weapons, caused a huge change in guild wars. He really did a good job till then and most of the big problems have been fixes so maybe there's just too much to fix all at once", i now correct myself in saying that izzy is completely and utterly incompetent. - So disrupting lunge was overpowered because somebody can use Otyugh Cry to make it unblockable? ...How about D-shot plus Guided Weapon...and it only takes 2 skill slots (dshot + guided weap) compared to 4 slots (charm animal+pet rez+dlunge+otyugh). You are already giving up skills to bring a pet, how can anyone justify using up another skill slot on a pet attack which A-can only be used once every 20 seconds and B-is way harder to actually time/aim than a normal skill like Dshot? - Elder Angelus 19:58, 22 August 2008 (UTC)

Smiter's Boon
Why not just delete the skill? 5 seconds...for 25 energy... doesn't balth aura last longer than that? Plus, balth aura actually *does something* by itself, smiter's boon doesn't even kick in unless you have energy to cast *more* spells. - Elder Angelus 13:36, 22 August 2008 (UTC)
- Gonna quote anet on this here..."Smiter's Boon is a key skill in smite-heavy PvP teams that were generally overpowered and which too strongly discouraged the use of hexes and conditions. Their combination of healing, damage, and removal invalidated a lot of alternative builds within Team Arenas and has had a negative impact on GvG combat. "
I thought invalidating other builds and finding a way around other peoples was part of PvP? Izzy must not understand it anymore. He needs to quit or be fired for someone with more sense. There are other Overpowered things running around in PvP that remain untouched. Why not go after them. Oh wait, I forgot. We're talking about Anet here. Toa Hahli 21:41, 22 August 2008 (UTC)
Skill balance =/= Delete skill from the game.I've completely lost the respect that I had for ANet and Izzy.Hell, if you want to NERF something, do the same that you did to Deadly Paradox, 15e, 1sec cast, reduce the duration to like 10-15sec, increase the recharge, but NO, it's easier to remove it from the game than try to balance 189.70.211.74 22:36, 22 August 2008 (UTC)
- I'll give them a chance and believe they did that in order to prevent problems during the next AT, while giving themselves some time to think of a real solution to that problem. When early september update comes in, I'll see if my trust is misplaced or not. Hopefully it'll bring us a new and balanced Smiter's Boon. If it doesn't, however, then my faith in ANet might be quite damaged by what will have become a really poor balance decision. 86.211.77.104 22:59, 22 August 2008 (UTC)
- The change (as mentioned) was purely until they figure out an elegant solution to the skill, probably via a change to its functionality. Without that, it will be overpowered. Izzy knows what he is doing, it is just everyone else who thinks they do when they really don't that is the issue. LordSojar 23:08, 22 August 2008 (UTC)
...Those teams were NOT overpowerd. You win them by splitting and clean spiking them down one by one. 217.120.229.159 15:15, 24 August 2008 (UTC)
