Damaged and Broken Weapons
It would be annoying if your favourite swords falls in pieces and how about the magic weapons then. I'd say that it would be a little bit expensive. But I don't know if you could fix it. I still don't like the idea --Rated Five 23:21, 25 June 2008 (UTC)
- It doesn't need to be too expensive, but it could also be a bot deferent, having your weapon and armor break after awhile. Another idea as well is to have something such as a repair certificate drop from a boss monster Sergent Cho 02:35, 26 June 2008 (UTC)
- This would add perhaps not the huge element, but the huge feel of grind in the game. In PvP and harder areas of PvE we don't need to worry about our weapons and armor falling into crap at the final boss or the hugest mob. In games realism is not ALWAYS good, especially when you make realism = grind/trouble/etc. Besides, who wants to waste gold on realism that is a "hassle" realism rather than a positive one? Also you will have the players who have the same common sence or the same difficulties complaining and asking the purpose of weapons breaking in the middle of an elite mission or area. I for one am totally and completely against this idea. --Elven Chaos 19:12, 26 June 2008 (UTC)
- Too much of a stressful mechanic. Please dont :S (Terra Xin 04:58, 28 June 2008 (UTC))
- I don't think ANet would ever even think of doing this, I wouldn't worry Terra. Like on the GW2 FAQ, ANet holds the anti-grind belief. --Elven Chaos 04:37, 29 June 2008 (UTC)
- How does one put "purely asthetic" and lower stats in same sentence? O.o If its "purely asthetic" meaning JUST looks, then its JUST looks, no stats will be effected, or should be. On the other hand, weapons/character models reflecting light/getting blood/dirt on them would be a huge pain in the donkey to code, considering not even high end FPS games manage to pull it off properly, if at all have the feature. - Some players may like their armour to look old or ripped, but it must not have an effect on its stats. This old and degraded look should be obtained in time based on time played with that armour(something like every 500H it adds a new level of degradation) and not in every battle. Also the character should get older with the pass of time. This way player characters will look old and can have an old armour or he / she can buy a new shiny one. A character should get old every year from its creation and must not have any connection with the armour degradation. (G-Man)

it may sound a lot like WoW, RoM, and maybe even a little like oblivion but i think haveing some kind of "jobs" in GW2 would be nice. like blacksmithing, this could be how characters could repair their own armor once they reach a certain skill lvl in the certain job type. they may have to buy certain tools to do this job and they may have to be replaced every once in a while but for the most part characters would save money by not haveing to spend money every time u repair armor. and to make it fair to all players it could have a setup similar to Runes of Magic, where every character is able to do every job but only advance in certain ones that they choose. and the higher the armor, the higher the skill required. and runes and insigs on armor i don't think should be affected by any of this at all. i've always found the "jobs"/proffesions interesting and it gives characters something else to work for in game besides the main quest, side missions, and just plain farming for gold. just a thought though, may be to similar to other games for some players taste though. and as for brakeing weapons, i have never been a fan of games where if your weapon gets to low it brakes and u lose it. y not just have it become unusable, where it unequips itself and u just have to repair it to use again. and if it's the only weapon u have in the middle of a mission then maybe they should allow some sort of hand-to-hand combat so u can at least still fight somewhat.
