Charmable animal
From Guild Wars Wiki
Jump to navigationJump to search
Charmable animals are a type of creature that can become an animal companion by targeting them with Charm Animal. Nearly all charmable animals are hostile, but remain passive until they take damage or life steal, are targeted by a skill that can target a foe, or an attempt to charm them occurs. They should not be confused with beasts, animal-like creatures that cannot be charmed.

Notes[edit]
- Pets can be unlocked through the Zaishen Menagerie.
- Non-prestige pets can be unlocked through the Pet Unlock Pack.
- When killed, charmable animals do not drop any items, with these exceptions:
- During special events, they will drop seasonal items (with the same frequency that foes do).
- In Eye of the North, they drop map pieces.
- Some NPCs have animal allies which look like pets; they cannot be tamed by players or heroes:
- Carlotta is the spider companion of Shadow;
- Devourers accompany Charr during The Rise of the White Mantle and Charr-broiled Plans;
- Old Mac and his devourer ally Joe appear in a couple of Prophecies quests and in the Norn Fighting Tournament.
- Drake Toma is a beast tamed by the people of Ronjok;
- Drakes appear as companions to some Peacekeepers;
- Impressive Warthog is an ally tamed by Nehdukah in Plains of Jarin;
- White wolf Snow is an ally of Master Seeker Nathaniel in Griffon's Mouth.
- Charmable animals killed count towards rewards for Vanquishing, but do not count towards accumulating points through bounties or bounty-like blessings.
- Charmable animals do not appear on the compass unless they become hostile.
- They will attack whoever caused them to become hostile, i.e. either your party or PvE foes. If your party causes a charmable animal to become hostile and then run away from it to lose its aggro, it will not attack any PvE foes that enters its Danger Zone.
- Even though still remaining their base level, their armor is increased to 100-101 in HM.
Bug.On rare occasions, a charmable animal displays the name of a foe within the same zone or a foe might show the pet's name and level. This does not affect gameplay.
