My first suggestion is that all weapons or at least rare weapons to have a unique ability that cannot be used by other weapons of its weapon-type and this ability can be used by any profession that can use that weapon. For example, a warrior obtains a sword that has a flame for its blade and it has the ability to cause the flame to explode, causing nearby enemies to light on fire and take burning damage. A ranger also manages to obtain this sword and can also perform the same ability. I believe this will allow for more originality with weapons because it gives the players an actual reason as to why choose this specific weapon over other ones of its weapon-type since all of them can perform the same abilities, aside from the stats that the weapon provides. My other suggestion (if it is not already included in the game) is to allow weapons to have more than 5 abilities to use which can allow players to create their own builds which will make them unique to the other players of the same profession that use the same weapon-type.
Consider weapon power boosting gear like armor or helm or boots that will effect/IAS, damage, range, etc...make it so that these armor/gear only effect certain unique weapons.
