Many of you who see this will automatically DESPISE the thoughts of mounts: I know I did before. But, if you are patient enough to listen... I can change that.
A-net said mounts were a no-go in GW2, but that is kind of a lie.
At the moment, people think mount=horse/etc that gives a speed boost. Few would argue that. Well, I would. ^^
To me, a mount is the way to describe your character changing form by working together with an animal/machine. We already have http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Hazmat_Suit, which can easily be considered to be a mount.
THIS is my suggestion: I want Guild Wars 2 to have mounts, but not the traditional "fast, run through map" variant. No, I want mounts that have a purpose, a tactical place on the battlefield. For example, the Hazmat suit. Another example, Siege Devourers, similar to the OGW variant, but smaller scale. When Cantha rolls around, Siege Turtles!!! (Required item in your inventory: carrot ;D). When Elona slides into view, perhaps JunJuns will make their glorious return!
To make this work, obviously mounts cannot be purchased for permanent use; they can't be player-owned, like weapons. As seems evident with the Hazmat Suit, these mounts would be 'rented'; you get it for a short amount of time, in most cases in exchange for a fee or service, and you get to tromp around in it for a period of time. Mounts can be introduced into dungeons and WvW(vW, correct?), kind of like vehicles in games such as Halo and Battlefield.
With this approach, we avoid going into the "look at me, I spent real money to fly over you lower class nubs" style of gaming that MMOs with mounts become.
(Edit)Here's a list of mounts I think could be included, and I shall edit it as more ideas come (an asterik (*) indicates I do not have an appropriate name for the suggested mount):
-Hazmat Suit (Given)
-Siege Devourer
-Siege Turtle
-Junundu
-Frost Wurm (Obtained from the Norn at the Wurm shrine, perhaps?)
-Dolyak
-*The unnamed beasts that the Dwarven Beastmasters in OGW were riding would be an interesting addition.
-Oakheart/*Druid variant
Any comments are welcome, feel free to voice your opinion! ^^
