I'd be willing to say that 75% of the problems with hexes can be solved by
- A. increasing their cost and recharge
and
- B. decreasing the cost and recharge of hex removals.
Obviously, skills such as Lingering Curse, Wail of Doom, Visions of Regret and Augury of Death need to have more changes than just that - they each have an incredibly powerful effect that can't be fixed just by vamping up the recharge. However, I don't have the patience to post a list of every hex and the steps that need to be taken to fix it, because it would take all night and leave me in an extraordinarily foul mood, even more so when it was ignored and hexway was buffed again.
Just start by buffing hex removal and increasing the recharges of hexes by 25-50%, and then start actually fixing the ones that are obscenely broken (which is only like 3/4).
Another problem with hexes is their ability to be stacked... and stacked... and stacked... until there's no hope of removal. You shouldn't have to use your elite slot to help prevent being swamped by hexes. Hex removals, if their recharge isn't severely reduced, need to be able to remove multiple hexes with one use; alternatively, add a clause to the end of hexes that says something like "No effect if target foe is already under the effect of 2...4...4 <profession> hexes" to keep players from having 4 lines of effects on their monitor. The first option would be better, I think, but the second would also be a [crude] fix to hex stacking.
