Final Balance Update for the Assassin - PvE only[edit]

Goal / Attempt: Make the Assassin primarily the non-plus ultra single-target killer by speeding up the recharge time of his skills and changing some numbers. Furthermore provide more build variety / differnt dagger based builds.


Primary attribute[edit]

Adding a secondary Pve-only effect:


NEW Critical Strikes : For each rank of Critical Strikes you have, you gain an additional 1% chance to critical hit. Whenever you critical hit, you gain 1 energy at ranks 3 and above, 2 energy at ranks 8 and above, and 3 energy at 13 ranks above. In PvE, each rank of Critical Strikes decreases the recharge time for your Assassin skills by 2%.

Fox's Promise Fox's Promise 5 Energy¼ Activation time10 Recharge time Elite Hex Spell. Decreased energy cost to 5, activation time to 1/2 seconds, recharge time to 10 seconds, changed property to Elite Hex Spell.


Golden Phoenix Strike Golden Phoenix Strike 5 Energy0 Activation time6 Recharge time Off-Hand Attack. Decreased recharge time to 6 seconds.


Golden Skull Strike Golden Skull Strike 10 Energy6 Recharge time Elite Off-Hand Attack. Decreased recharge time to 6 seconds.


Horns of the Ox Horns of the Ox 5 Energy0 Activation time8 Recharge time Dual Attack. Decreased recharge time to 8 seconds, increased damage : If it hits, Horns of the Ox strikes for +5...17...20 damage. If struck foe is not adjacent to any allies, that foe is knocked down.


Moebius Strike Moebius Strike 5 Energy½ Activation time2 Recharge time Elite Off-Hand Attack. Changed activation time to 1/2.


Temple Strike Temple Strike 10 Energy0 Activation time8 Recharge time Elite Lead Attack. Decreased energy cost to 10 and recharge time to 8 seconds, changed property to Elite Lead Attack.

Palm Strike Palm Strike 5 Energy¾ Activation time4 Recharge time Elite touched. Decreased recharge time to 4 seconds, increased damage: Deals 15...67...80 damage and inflicts Crippled condition (1...4...5 second[s]). This skill counts as an off-hand attack.


Seeping Wound Seeping Wound 10 Energy¼ Activation time10 Recharge time Elite Hex Spell. Decreased energy cost to 10, recharge to 10 seconds, increased values: (1...7...8 second[s].) Target foe moves 50% slower. This foe takes 5...25...30 damage each second while suffering from a condition.


Shattering Assault Shattering Assault 10 Energy0 Activation time4 Recharge time Elite Dual Attack. Decreased recharge time to 4 seconds, increased damage : Deals 10...50...60 damage. Removes one enchantment. Unblockable. Must follow an off-hand attack.


Way of the Assassin Way of the Assassin 5 Energy0 Activation time12 Recharge time Elite Stance. Increased values: (30 seconds). While wielding daggers, you attack +5...27...33% faster and have a +5...37...45% chance to land a critical hit.

Impale Impale 5 Energy¾ Activation time12 Recharge time Skill. Decreased activation time to 3/4 seconds and recharge to 12 seconds, increased damage : Deals 25...105...125 earth damage. Inflicts Deep Wound condition (5...17...20 seconds). Must follow a dual attack.


Iron Palm Iron Palm 5 Energy¾ Activation time10 Recharge time Skill. Decreased recharge time to 10 seconds.


Mark of Death Mark of Death 10 Energy¼ Activation time10 Recharge time Hex Spell. Decreased recharge time to 10 seconds.


Shadow Prison Shadow Prison 10 Energy¼ Activation time15 Recharge time Elite Hex Spell. Decreased recharge time to 15 seconds, increased value : Shadow Step to target foe. This foe moves 66% slower (1...8...10 seconds).


Shroud of Silence Shroud of Silence 10 Energy¾ Activation time20 Recharge time Elite Hex Spell. Decreased recharge time to 20 seconds, increased value : (1...5...6 second[s].) Target foe cannot cast spells. Your spells are disabled for 15 seconds.


Signet of Shadows Signet of Shadows 0 Energy1 Activation time15 Recharge time Signet. Decreased recharge time to 15 seconds, increased damage : Deals 10...38...45 damage. Deals 15...63...75 more damage if target foe is Blinded.


Vampiric Assault Vampiric Assault 5 Energy0 Activation time6 Recharge time Dual Attack. Decreased recharge time to 6 seconds, increased health stealing : Steals 15...43...50 Health if this attack hits. Must follow an off-hand attack.

Conclusion[edit]

Nowdays most of the active Guild Wars players have fully equipped heroes / mercenaries with powerful and effecient builds which simply means, most of the battles in PvE don't last long. That's why Assassins need their skills recharged quickly, whether playing alone with heroes or with other players. Assassins need heavily some variety in possible builds. I can't imagine how boring it is for players only to play 90% of the time with the same stupid, retarded build ( Jagged Strike Jagged Strike, Fox Fangs Fox Fangs, Death Blossom Death Blossom and Moebius Strike Moebius Strike ). And no, it's not the players fault, cause the majority of players just want to play the "strongest" / most efficient builds. The Assassin should be and IS capable of much more then just running one build. Let's give him the tweaks and alterations to prove it.
