I was mislead to believing the reasoning behind mercenary characters was the ability to share a character's armor upgrade and weapon aquisition between all your characters.

If a weapon says "customized for 123" and the mercenary character's name that shows up on my party list is "123" then why can 123 not wield weapons customized to the character.

Mercenary characters should be able to use the original characters customized items.
