- Suggestion
- Add traders that deal with weapon and off-hand item upgrades.
- Summary
- Guild Wars trading system is barely a trading system at all. That gives players a lot of trouble, since trading it's slow and time consuming, unless you use the services of external auction and selling sites.
- If it is not possible to add a trading system for all items, at least those that are related to equipment and builds (weapon and armor upgrades) should have them.
- Why this is a good idea
- Supply and demand are almost perfectly ensured.
- Incommensurable speed up in transaction.
- Players wanting to find rarely used upgrades -those that absolutely no one sells and most people discard without a second sight on it because they don't sell high or are not widely used- will be able to get them without endless hours of farming by themselves. The trash of one man may be the treasure of another one.
- Players (especially roleplaying characters) wanting to make quick changes in weapons in PvP would be able to do so if they have the cash, without having to store a lot of different upgrades or weapons, like they can do it now with the Rune Traders we can find in PvP outposts.
- More storage would be saved. Since if you can't fit a weapon upgrade, you can always sell it and get another one later from the trader... just losing some gold in the process, depending on the price of the item. Traders are like a somehow expensive storage system.
- Makes the weapon system work more like the armor system.
- Traders are friendly with new players, since they ensure they may be aware the value of the items those Traders sell.
- Traders also give information about what 'people like' and trends in the game, which is also useful.
- Why it may not work out
- Unlike runes, weapon upgrades have variable properties, so there must be a way around this, since it would be a lot of trouble to have Traders with all variations of an upgrade, when people usually want only maxed upgrades. Probably buying all upgrades but selling only maxed ones would be the best solution.
- Prices in traders can turn quite low over time, so the few that make a living by selling upgrades may don't like the idea of having a NPC competitor.
- And some prices could turn really high, specially for the most used upgrades (15%^50, +5Energy, etc...), but that's fixed with with limitations in high prices.
