The enemies in this mission work a little different to the others. All enemies will have on them, and cast frequently, an enchantment Call of the Hunt, which gives them a damage reduction and an increased chance of blocking. The player will need to steal this enchantment as much as possible, because the enemies hit pretty hard. To balance this out, there are fewer enemies overall. The enemies have a -4 health degeneration that is countered by the enchantment, but once it is removed it will effect them until it is recast.
Main Mission[edit]
Players begin this mission inside a small area (a house) with an open door. An NPC will be outside calling for help, and as players leave the building the mission begins in proper. The Wild Hunt will attack from within the snowstorm which blankets the outskirts of the town almost immediately, and Signey will have to fend them off. After getting the first corrupted creature down to 90% health, the NPC who called her for help will cast Revealed Enchantment, which will then allow Signey to cast the same spell. Once the first group of enemies are downed (there are four in all) Raven will appear on the edge of town and grant access to the Magic to Might skill once it is spoken to. The player will also receive a buff which will push back the snow storm surrounding the player, giving them a way to move through this area. This buff cannot be removed.
Another NPC will direct her in the direction the Hunt fled, giving her the Mantra of Frost skill in the process, allowing Signey to give chase. As she traverses the region Hunt pop-ups will occur in the form of corrupted wolves. Once she has defeated three of these groups, the Wolf Spirit will appear and grant the player a second buff, which will mark the next location to be investigated for the Hunt, giving players access to the Crippling Shot skill as a bonus. Players will need to defeat another 3 groups of these corrupted forms to proceed, which will finally direct them towards the cave. Once they reach the mouth of the cave, a group will appear and players simply need to defeat the group. Signey herself will mention that the Hunt seems to be inside the cave, but upon entering it will receive an area effect which causes a -4 debuff. As players back out of the area, Signey will note that only Bear could grant her the strength necessary.
Players will then have to backtrack and reach the shrine of the Bear spirit, where they will find it under attack by the Hunt. They simply need to help Bear kill the attacking corrupted creatures, and the Hunt will flee back to it's cave. Speaking to Bear will grant access to the Norn's most powerful skill - Become the Bear.
The player then only has to engage the Hunt, which is a tricky fight. Once combat starts, the -4 debuff will dissapear, allowing players a fighting chance. The Hunt's skill bar is comprised of only Elites, with all the relevant attributes in order to use them. The key is to use the skills effectively and to take the fight slowly - at 90%, 80%, 70%, 60% and 50% the Hunt will spawn a corrupted spirit, which can be easily defeated, but will overwhelm the player if too many spawn at once. Once the Hunt is reduced to 25% health, it will become allied and be revealed as a Norn named Gudrun Praystalker, who will attack the player. Any corrupted creatures alive at this stage will despawn, no matter their health. This second stage is much easier, as there is mainly a statistical advantage to the boss. Once she is dead, a cutscene will play.
Discovery: Fire Fighting Fire[edit]
This discovery us tricky, but is mostly about managing your cool downs well. The trick is to nearly let the enchantment expire and cast the next instance of it. By completing this discovery players will gain a benefit in that play-through - a buff which both extends the duration of enchantments by 50% and lowers their casting time by 50%.
Discovery: Corrupted Spirits[edit]
This discovery is mainly about being thorough. There are 8 other spawns around the area that players will encounter, out of a possible 32 spots. These are mainly at junction points, although 8 of them will be in the area which will eventually be Jora's homestead. Approach the area with caution.
Discovery: Sole Target[edit]
This discovery is about careful play - players will need to balance the blocking effects of Call of the Hunt with the possible health benefits they will gain. Depending on the players play style, it may be better to cycle one set of the enchantment quickly, gaining the health bonus, and let the second run out.
Cinematics[edit]
Cinematic 1[edit]
This cinematic moves through several scenes whilst the voiceover plays. In order those scenes are - Signy standing over the body of Gudrun, her kneeling besides Bear's shrine in the Bjora Marshes, her standing in behind the fire where you summon Bear for the first time in the Eye of The North campaign (both characters have their backs to you.) and finally three Norn standing on a hill in Bear Form.
- "This is a story of a Norn."
- "A proud hunter who refused to let her pray go."
- "She stopped an evil and became a legend."
- "Her tale resounded amongst the Shiverpeaks for years."
- "But the bonds she formed were more legendary."
- "And though history forgot her name,"
- "All Norn benefit from her actions"
- "All Norn walk with Bear."
