I know what many of you will say, "Who wants to play a video game to READ?" Well, people who enjoy a bit of immersion, a sense of ambient lore, and a good laugh every now and again would (I'm fairly sure) be more than happy to see such a thing. What if A-Net hired a pair of people to come up with maybe 10 short articles a week to stick in a newspaper that could be found handed out throughout the week on a street corner in each capital city. The issue which was being handed out would change every Sunday at midnight. These articles could just be some ongoing stories happening in the world, and updates on dynamic event chains. If there was an exorbitant amount of seriousness, some of them could be funny, goofy stories that involved characters in the world which have no true effect on the overall story, but are just placed there to give us a laugh.
It could also include a section devoted to possibly some statistics on the current WvWvW over the previous week, Guild PvE statistics, and this may be taking it a bit far, but top 10 marketplace price changes over the week per server, kind of like stock market changes? I'm just thinking out loud here. Maybe there could be 2-3 coupons unique to the week that you could right click to tear off the page and keep in a little journal in your inventory. Each with expiration dates and such, of course. Used on things such as food/drink, gear, pets, reagents, mats, opening new bank tabs, etc..
The idea is still pretty rough, but I posted it on MMO Champion a while back, and about 95% of the comments were extremely positive! What do you all think?
