Emotes 2.0[edit]
The current emote system is underutilized. It could logically extend its fun commands to some silly extremes; it also could do with some additional functional commands.
- § denotes changes to existing emotes.
Status emotes[edit]
- /afk — character sits and resets status to away§; /sit — character sits
- /dnd — character sits and resets status to do not disturb
- /back = /here = /online — character comes to attention and resets status to online
- /sleep = /offline — character lies on ground to sleep and resets status to offline
- /ignore [name] — puts [name] in ignore list (probably requires increasing the capacity of the ignore list)
Generic command[edit]
- /me [text] — as in IRC, "[player] [text]", e.g. /me had this idea first yields "CK43 had this idea first", if CK43 is the active player.
Functional commands[edit]
- /emote = /emotes — lists 5 emotes (presumably from help file); pressing down arrow lists the next 5, etc.
- /help — brings up wiki (same as default [F10])
- /help [topic] — searches wiki for named topic
Ease-of-repeat commands[edit]
- /seppuku — "[player] atones for shameful mistakes by /resigning" (also: functions as /resign)
- /map — "[player] is mapping party" (then brings up World Map)
- /gz — congratulates player who had last drop in window: "[player] congratulates [teammate-receiving-last-drop] on awesome drop!"
- if easy, applies only to gold or green drops
- if easy, applies to selected party member
Silly and/or missing emotes[edit]
- /fist — same as /fistshake (fist shake is unintuitive)
- /banjo — "plays the banjo happily"
- /kazoo — "plays the kazoo with a silly grin"
- /sheepish — "grins sheepishly"
- /go [player] — "Go, [player]! Go, [player]! Go, [player]!"
- if easy, /go applies to selected party member
- /Cry — character rubs eyes with both fists (thanks to Rose of Kali for this emote)
- /QQ (same as /Cry, except that mistyping the synonym results in an error message: Dude: there's no crying in Guild Wars!)
Trade emotes[edit]
- /wtb [item] @[price]; /wts [item] @[price]; /wtt [item] @[item2] #[ratio]
- creates message, "WTB [item] @[price]", "WTS [item] @[price]", or "WTT [item] (me) for [item2] @[ratio]" respectively
- sends message into trade channel only
- setups message in party window under category=Trade
- if easy, resends the message every 3 minutes or until player does any of the following: uses another /wtX emote; sends a message in the trade channel; makes changes in the party window
Might be funny to at least 2 people[edit]
- /dude — "[player] abides"
Some players strongly object to these ideas[edit]
- /omg — "[player] says, oh my gosh! "
- if easy, if chat restrictions are limited, says, oh my god!!
- /gag — "like, totally, gag me with a spoon! gross! grotie to the max! "
