Hello Regina, the Guild Wars 2 Wiki community has been documenting all this new info like crazy! But we seem to be running into issues obtaining some of the screenshots from certain website like IGN. Sometimes the image links are dead and/or watermarks from their sites are copyright violations on GW2W. So we were wondering if there is anyway that we could obtain some of the most recent screenshots from Guild Wars 2 watermark free. This would be extremely helpful to us in documenting Guild Wars 2. Thanks for your time. --hnzdvn 19:15, 26 May 2010 (UTC)
- Certain websites receive exclusive screen shots, and there is a period during which those websites alone will have those screen shots. They generally watermark those with their logo. Providing certain sites with exclusives is a common practice in the industry, because it makes those sites more likely to do stories about a game, and promotes the game beyond those who already know about it well. As soon as that exclusivity period expires, we put those up on the Guild Wars 2 website. For today's info release on personal story, the IGN.com screen shots have an exclusivity period of 24 hours, so you'll see those screen shots appear on the Guild Wars 2 website tomorrow. :-) Earlier today, I notified our PR team to request that IGN fix the dead links on the main body of the article on person story, but those screen shots are available in full size in the general Guild Wars 2 section. --Regina Buenaobra 02:20, 27 May 2010 (UTC)
- I wasn't aware of the exclusivity period, but thanks for informing me of it :). We will just wait till the screenshots are posted up on the website. Thanks for your response. --hnzdvn 03:05, 27 May 2010 (UTC)
