GamesCom: 18. - 22.08.2010

Seeking confirmation that ArenaNet/NCsoft will attend next gamescom: 18. - 22.08.2010? Too early to tell? --Silverleaf Special:Contributions/SilverleafDon't assume, Know! 13:16, 21 February 2010 (UTC)

We aren't ready to talk about potential appearance at this event yet. When we are, you will find that on the official website. --Regina Buenaobra User Regina Buenaobra sig.png 20:15, 24 February 2010 (UTC)

E3

Hi Regina. I was just curious, will Anet be attending E3 this year? - Marisa 17:29, 23 February 2010 (UTC)

We aren't discussing our convention schedule at this time. We have not been to E3 for several years, so I don't anticipate it, however I can't say for certain becase this decision isn't mine to make or announce, and no one has discussed E3 with me as yet. --Regina Buenaobra User Regina Buenaobra sig.png 20:22, 24 February 2010 (UTC)

GW2 Beta Hoax Email

Just thought I would point this out to you but I recieved an email in my inbox, subject "Guild Wars 2 beta Selection" sent from "community@aren.net"(notice, no A in arena) today containing this:

Congratulations!

Because of your time and experience on Guild Wars, you are invited to participate in the Guild Wars 2 closed beta, starting on March 1, 2010. Please note that Arenanet will never ask for any personal information including game keys, email addresses and account passwords. Attached is an installer executable for the Guild Wars 2 beta client.

Here is a list of known issues with installation with the current beta build.

  • Virus Scanners, adware/spyware detectors and software firewalls all will flag this program and prevent it from installing. Please disable any one of these on your computer before installing.
  • Once installed, you may re-enable these programs, but you must create an exception for scanning the Guild Wars 2 installation folder to prevent the game from being deleted.
  • If, during your first execution of the game, your computer prompts you to restart, please follow the instructions and do so.

For other issues, please consult the release notes in the installation folder when installed.

Thank you for your participation. Have fun defeating the dragons on the continent of Kryta!

Needless to say, the email is now gone to my trash and my trash is now empty. Just thought I would give you and everyone else a heads up on this. --Sageofprofession 03:49, 27 February 2010 (UTC)

Second A lol --Sageofprofession 03:55, 27 February 2010 (UTC)
Virus scanners pick it up? Amateurs. 42.zip still doesn't get picked up except by the pay-to-use AVs, and it's 15 years or old something.
I think there's some sort of an open community that deals with phishing attempts, but it might only be for forged websites, not e-mail scams. Could google it, though, in case Regina doesn't check the wiki over the weekend. –Jette 04:43, 27 February 2010 (UTC)
Already on it. I reported it to Spamhaus, so hopefully if more people reported it, this email will be blacklisted. --Sageofprofession 05:28, 27 February 2010 (UTC)
You should tell one of your friends to unzip that 42 thing sometime. It's always fun to watch the reactions once they figure out how to kill the process/reboot (doesn't work on unix nerds since you can actually stop this kind of thing). Especially amusing when it actually manages to fill up their whole HDD and they can't turn their computer on because the temp directory is full. –Jette 07:02, 27 February 2010 (UTC)

Methinks that Jette is a haxor!!! :P --Sageofprofession 07:31, 27 February 2010 (UTC)

I think it doesn't work on unix-based operation systems. --Boro 10px‎ 07:49, 27 February 2010 (UTC)
I'm not a hacker, I'm just a jerk. Hackers do something productive for themselves if no one else; I just like to ask people if they're frustrated. 42 was a 42-byte zip file that unzipped into ~4.5 petabytes of garbage data (for comparison, that's equal to an object about the size of a basket ball growing to 2 million times the area of New York City). –Jette 08:45, 27 February 2010 (UTC)
texmod is hacking:therefore jette = h4x -- discuss --ilrUser ilr deprav.png 09:27, 27 February 2010 (UTC)
Isn't it forbidden to use leetspeak on feedback namespace? --Boro 10px‎ 09:59, 27 February 2010 (UTC)
When making a suggestion for the developers to take into consideration it is required to use plain english. However this is not a suggestion page.

Thank you very much for passing this along. I've notified our support team in case any tickets arise. At this time, all public information about Guild Wars 2, beta or otherwise, is found on the official Guild Wars 2 website. --Regina Buenaobra User Regina Buenaobra sig.png 01:45, 5 March 2010 (UTC)
