Community Manager - What is your REAL job?

I got another question. As far as I know, your are the community manager. I always thought that main job of CM is to comunicate with community. Answring question, discuss, making conclusion and getteing it to the desiners. How would you do that what you if your activity in official wiki (which is official comunicate channel for gw community) is nearly zero. You have answer 7 question today (4.12.2009), your last activity befere today was 24.11 (one contribution), then 21.11 (three answers). It's two weeks ago. Last mont give us about 15 contribs - that is less than half a day. Dont you think you're keeping too less attention to your talk pages? Your are here once a week - or even rarely. How can you be community maganer if you dont communicate with community? How can you do it properly if you avoid to answer inconvenient question?

"official comunicate channel for gw community" - uh, no, it isn't. This isn't The Official Talk to Regina site, it's the Guild Wars Wiki, meant to have information about the game. The fact that we have plenty of users with almost zero contributions to the goal of the wiki (documenting the game) but rather one hundred edits on the talk page of Arena Net's developers is an aberration of the system, that is only allowed because people here are far nicer than they should be.

Besides, Regina's job is not wasting her time answering half intelligible questions from players who believe themselves to be her boss; she has to work for the entire community, not only the minority which uses the wiki, and even less the minority that uses the wiki and bothers to look at her talk page.

The fact that she even bothers to have this talk page at all is more thanks to her own good will than anything else; or do you see Aion's CM answering questions on the Aion wiki? Erasculio 01:16, 5 December 2009 (UTC)

Explaining all of her duties in clear and honest terms would run counter to the desired results of the position she must fill. Therefore this question is a zero sum gain. Conversely; the title reeks of intellectual dishonesty and insult. Can we move onto something else, please? --ilr

In regards to Aion...it's Powerwiki is pretty weak and it's wiki community and official forums are virtually non-existent. I would not compare it with GWW and if I was in Aysase's position, I wouldn't frequent there myself. Aysase, who is Aion's CM, is always replying to topics on the Source and can be contacted easily via Twitter. On to Regina, just by observing, she is not as active on here as Gaile is when it comes to responding. This could be because she has her own way of doing things or her main priorities lie elsewhere atm. In any case, if ArenaNet is happy with the service she is providing as the current CM, then she's doing her job. — Gares 03:02, 5 December 2009 (UTC)

Inconvenient? Given the many areas of communication that Regina is managing, the wiki, and the inane questions posed to her here are the very least of her job duties. Grow up. -- Wyn

His point is valid. Other companies' CRs post more in a single thread than she has on her talk page in months. Maybe she has additional duties that don't include talking to people - it would explain a lot. That's all the OP is asking. -Auron 13:26, 5 December 2009 (UTC)

^ that's true. Maybe her job description is different from that of CR's of other games. But many of us are used to CR's who...well, you know...do CR. So, it would make a lot of sense if she does other stuff. Otherwise, I get the image of her spinning in her office chair all day and once a month actually answering questions....anywhere. Karate

Even I implied that it was a Gotcha-question (read:troll). I won't confirm or deny the rest of the point though since it isn't a CM's job to be "friends" with the community but merely to placate them ...and when that fails, stupefy them with bullshit and artful dodging. --ilr
