Feedback talk:User/Anon-e-mouse/Start Guild Wars In Offline Mode
I'm confused. What's this exactly for? and what does it do for the player? Really? would it work all that well? Just curious as it does sound slightly good, but there's another on here that's fairly well written with the /afk thing in setting people away, etc. (Somewhere on here, but similar) Ariyen 08:58, 12 September 2009 (UTC)
- At the moment, you're automatically set to Online status whenever you change character or log on, regardless of the setting before you changed character, etc. By making this command, you'd be Offline by default and as such, nobody could see you online, if only for a second. It'd also prevent your "2 Weeks" inactivity from reseting on the guild roster. Handy for hiding from people. --Alex Eternal 09:43, 12 September 2009 (UTC)
- However I think if you want to talk to people and people want to talk to you, you have to go online. I can see offline if you don't want to be bothered, but why the ignore section if you're gonna 'fake offline' anyway? I like the current, but I just wish it'd set me to auto afk or away if I do certain emotes. If I move, they turn my away off. I don't see the major change really. ♥ Ariyen ♀ 09:49, 12 September 2009 (UTC)
- well there's always one of my friends who goes by the name metal, he knows a girl who he hates but she's in love with him, she says she's going to kill herself if he puts her on his ignore list, and she keeps or friends window open at all times to keep an eye on him. he addicted to GW and so he often hops on then quickly switches to offline, but she still catches him. then the next time they do actually talk she starts getting depressed/suicidal that he wants to avoid her.

- or there's the fact that i have depression and often get on and get even more depressed if some tries talking to me so being able to keep people from seeing me on would help greatly.
- this change would be as useful as offline mode itself, so if ur like me and use it a lot such a change would be a huge advantage.Akbaroth 03:11, 13 September 2009 (UTC)
He could basically say that his gw, comes on when he's trying to open ie to do homework (or research or something that she'd believe!) Basically saying he quickly double clicked the wrong icon, etc. As this can happen. He logs in not thinking, realizes it, logs out. It can happen. ♥ Ariyen ♀ 06:43, 13 September 2009 (UTC)
I've seen on a user page that someone found a "log in as online/away/do not disturb/offline" option in the DAT file, possibly usable by GMs. If true, I assume it wouldn't require much extra work to enable for users. Manifold 04:09, 14 September 2009 (UTC)
When reading the title I thought about something completely different: being able to run the game without internet. then the player could look at his characters, and maybe access to some small maps where he can test builds, etc.--Agaetis Ros 08:39, 15 September 2009 (UTC)
- i have always liked this idea but i would want it in the character selection screen.- Zesbeer 06:20, 6 October 2009 (UTC)
This would be very helpful. Sometimes I just want to log in to check if I still have an item, to see if someone important is online, take a quick screenshot, etc. If I don't have time to do anything else, I don't want people to think I'm available just because I logged on. ...Very tired, having difficulty putting this into words, but I think you can understand what I mean. Hopefully.
