Feedback talk:User/Arctic105/Report up grade
Key Points[edit]
1) /kick option for FA/JQ to remove inactive players from the fight and replace them with people that are awaiting the battle
2) security question or captcha(in the languages supported by GW) for the person being kicked, to ensure no innocent players suffer
- 1. captcha could be a word
- 2. math question 4+5=? this by the way bypasses language
- 3. multiple choice like match the shapes, or Guild Wars Skills ^_^
3) 20-30 Min Dishonor that prevents the player participation in JQ/FA/AB ONLY to ensure players that went AFK for a brief period of time, because of long wait, can still go and to something else.
Real Suggestions.[edit]
have a person answer a security question before they are replaced to see if they are really AFK, to prevent people kicking weak players Arctic105 23:32, 10 February 2010 (UTC)
- Honestly, something like this being implemented would be just one more thing to keep me from ever venturing near anything resembling PvP. I have slight performance anxieties that I know would extend to something like this, and if I knew that if I just stood in one place too long, I'd get this popup or whatever... not encouraging. It also seems like a way to introduce a lovely new point of lag while the system loads this popup, which would also keep my boyfriend from participating in these things until he got a new computer. I could also see it being used as an aggressive form of bullying. Yes, the popup could be used to keep actual players in play, but if every second said person got hit with a popup because their teammates didn't like their playstyle... how long before said person gives up and doesn't answer, just to stop that harassment? I don't have a way to improve the idea, sorry, all I know is that right from the outset I don't like it.‹Lady Chani› 23:51, 10 February 2010 (UTC)
- The pop up comes once per game, once proven innocent you don't have to worry about it for the game.Arctic105 00:01, 11 February 2010 (UTC)
- I would suggest adding that to your main feedback page then, because as it reads currently, there is no distinction made. ‹Lady Chani› 00:04, 11 February 2010 (UTC)

Real Issues[edit]
if you have a real issue with my idea than type it in here (no more than one line of text)Arctic105 02:11, 11 February 2010 (UTC)
Make sure you read all of my key points from the feedback page
Good, but it needs a little work.[edit]
I like this, but it has severe abuse potential. I mean, if you have several people who are only there because of the ZCombat,, then it's likely that people would just report them in the hope of getting a better player. ThrainFile:User Thrain Sig.pngcontribs 21:29, 10 February 2010 (UTC)
- WoW already has a thing that solved this called Vote-Kick,(i dont care about comments saying 'this isent wow',because think.WoW has ::10mil Players even with the pay thing,While GW is at 6mil.) --Neil2250 21:35, 10 February 2010 (UTC)
- Guild Wars has, by no stretch of the imagination 6 million players, product sales do not equal players, be lucky if GW had/has 2 million tops, but still impressive none-the-less ~~000.00.00.00~~ 22:46, 10 February 2010 (UTC)
HAHA WOW FTW, i actually never played it ^_^ Arctic105 21:54, 10 February 2010 (UTC)
- Neil, do you think you can give me a run-down of the basics of the vote-kick system in WoW? I cannot seem to find it on the WoW Wikia. ThrainFile:User Thrain Sig.pngcontribs 21:58, 10 February 2010 (UTC)
I was told that this can be used to kick weak players instead of a leecher, thus i suggest this When person was woted to be kicked out of the group, that person will get a pop up window all they have to do is type their character name and they can keep playing, LEECHERS WONT BE ABLE TO DO THAT Arctic105 21:58, 10 February 2010 (UTC)
- Not all leechers are afk/bots. Also, slow typers wouldn't be able to type their name quickly. ThrainFile:User Thrain Sig.pngcontribs 22:00, 10 February 2010 (UTC)
- 10-30 seconds is more than enough. Also if you cant type you should not be playing Guild Wars Arctic105 22:02, 10 February 2010 (UTC)
- Also, botters can easily make a script that types their character name in every 10 seconds or so. ThrainFile:User Thrain Sig.pngcontribs 22:05, 10 February 2010 (UTC)
- ^ This is what I thought of. Maybe just a 3-strikes captcha would do the trick. I do like the kick-replace concept greatly, though. --Kyoshi (Talk) 22:09, 10 February 2010 (UTC)
- OK than, how about a random word that a player will have to retype into the box below, like one of those security questions you see when you create account on any website? Arctic105 22:11, 10 February 2010 (UTC)
- That's what a captcha is. ThrainFile:User Thrain Sig.pngcontribs 22:12, 10 February 2010 (UTC)
- OK, so what do you think about that? Arctic105 22:13, 10 February 2010 (UTC)
- Settle down with the caps. And the change works for me, I guess. --Kyoshi (Talk) 22:14, 10 February 2010 (UTC)
- Why did you just remove the indent? It makes it a helluva lot easier to read if you indent properly. --Kyoshi (Talk) 22:21, 10 February 2010 (UTC)
- Well, it seems like it would work, but I still see abuse potential (i.e. Having to stop in the middle of a battle to type in a captcha), as well as it being a severe annoyance. Also, it seems he considers it humorous to remove the indents. ThrainFile:User Thrain Sig.pngcontribs 22:24, 10 February 2010 (UTC)
- True, but in Jade Quarry or Fort Aspenwood things happen so quickly that one player being reported isn't likely to change the entire tide of the battle. Well, maybe in Aspenwood when the green gate's down and Gunther is being healed by a single monk, but really. --Kyoshi (Talk) 22:34, 10 February 2010 (UTC)
- Tbh, I really don't do FA/JQ that much (atm), but I bet that people will complain about it, atleast as much as they already complain about leechers. ThrainFile:User Thrain Sig.pngcontribs 22:43, 10 February 2010 (UTC)

(Reset indent) Well actually I DO ALOT of JQ and FA and i can say that every player counts, and how is capch annoying? to who the leechers? oh so the leechers will be once complaining? If you don't like this idea, just because you don't like me that you should stop posting on this page, I on the other hand care about JQ and FA because there are REAL people playing it (or are you too PRO for FA/JQ? u know what don't even answer) Arctic105 23:03, 10 February 2010 (UTC)
- Whoa, whoa, whoa. I'm just trying to point out a conflicting opinion; I have nothing against you, or anyone else on this wiki. And, having played JQ + FA myself (like I said: I do not really enjoy it, therefore I do not play it often), I understand how crucial a single player can be. However, imho, this change might cause a lot of unrest. ThrainFile:User Thrain Sig.pngcontribs 23:09, 10 February 2010 (UTC)
- Unrest to who? the leeches? Arctic105 23:11, 10 February 2010 (UTC)
- No; like I said: "slow typers wouldn't be able to type their name quickly". This also applies to people who type fast, yet make mistakes all the time. ThrainFile:User Thrain Sig.pngcontribs 23:15, 10 February 2010 (UTC)
- Fair point, but people who actually play wouldn't likely get reported nearly as often. Maybe, maybe by pissy guild syncers. And if the players can type well enough anyway, well, the time taken to report was simply for nothing, and after a few failures I think guild groups would give up on kicking to aid syncs. --Kyoshi (Talk) 23:23, 10 February 2010 (UTC)
- WHAT! people that cant type fast? OMG you are not helping, all u do is find different excuses why we should keep the leeches in game, i bet if proposed 5min limit to type in 5 letter word, you will respond with "well what about people that have no hands? how are they suppose to type thous five letters"
Just do me a favor if you don't have the solution, or an idea on how to improve what i have proposed than dont type here just go on another page and harass someone else Arctic105 23:29, 10 February 2010 (UTC)- "well what about people that have no hands? how are they suppose to type thous five letters" This made me laugh, for quite some time. But, on a more serious note, "If you do not want your writing to be edited mercilessly or redistributed by others, do not submit it." I assume that this covers criticism, and the like. I'm going to go out on a limb here, and also assume you and I both have different ideas of what constructive criticism is. Also, those people could use their nose! :P ThrainFile:User Thrain Sig.pngcontribs 23:40, 10 February 2010 (UTC)
- "those people could use their nose!" The only suggestion I heard from you, but so can the slow typers. Arctic105 23:47, 10 February 2010 (UTC)
- Okay. Assuming this is implemented, and it works as you say it will, what modifications to Dishonor do you think would go well with it? ThrainFile:User Thrain Sig.pngcontribs 23:50, 10 February 2010 (UTC)

(Reset indent) 20-30+ min in JQ/FA. Why? because a fight in JQ/FA takes about 15min, assuming the player was reported and kicked out, there will be less chance that he is back in your group again after the 15min fight. This dishonor should be separate from that of RA/HA/Codex.
Example: if i'm playing and my pizza comes, so i leave the GW only to come back and see that i was kicked out. That was totally my faul, but at least i can rest easy that the group got another player, while mean time i can go and play some RA. THAT would be totally fair. Arctic105 23:59, 10 February 2010 (UTC)
- Okay; that seems reasonable (because if that does happen, you can always play something else). Another suggestion that I thin would go well with that is this. ThrainFile:User Thrain Sig.pngcontribs 00:07, 11 February 2010 (UTC)
- @Arctic105: You're being very defensive. We're just trying to see this from every angle; there's no need to snap just because we don't think your idea is perfect.
- Think about it, seriously; many people on the internet actually type pretty slowly. If this were implemented with a reaction time so low that lots of slow typers couldn't get it in time, it would make a lot of people very unhappy with their gaming experience. And besides that, I'm not entirely sure it could work for international keyboards unless they made sure to captcha in every language they make keyboards for. This is not an excuse to keep leechers in the game, this is a potential issue with your idea. Honestly, I want leechers gone as much as you do.
- @Thrain: Rose's suggestion actually came to mind when I was looking at this one. Hope it happens sometime soon. --Kyoshi (Talk) 01:12, 11 February 2010 (UTC)
lol i'm not being offensive >_>, and there is not need for captcha for " every language they make keyboards for" because Guild Wars supports only like 8 so you should look before you leap, cuz you are just another person thats not helping, instead you should of added that "captchas should be in a variety of languages" Arctic105 01:52, 11 February 2010 (UTC)
captcha could be like a multiple choice question or a math question like 2+6=? and you have to type in answer. that can bypass language, but im sure you guys will say "how about people that dont know math?" well than they should not be upsetting everyone in the game nor leeching, GOSHArctic105 02:11, 11 February 2010 (UTC)
- I said "defensive" not "offensive". As in, every time we point out a problem you decide that we're attacking you and accuse us of trying to support leechers, or tell us that we haven't suggested anything, just complained. (Actually, the accusation part is kind of offensive.) Trust me, that's not the case. You have to accept that people will not know what's going through your head, and that they won't know everything that your idea may impact as well as you do. That's exactly why you have to bring the idea up, yeah? Back off just a tiny bit and stop treating us like we're the enemy. You have staggeringly little reason to be frustrated with us right now.
- To be honest, I didn't know that GW only supports 8 keyboards, though considering you said "like 8" and not "8" I'm a little doubtful that you have a quotation or source to back that up. Regardless, it doesn't really matter exactly how many keyboards there are, the point stands that they'll have to obtain captcha lists for each supported keyboard, which could be difficult (I don't know exactly how one goes about getting those).
- If someone doesn't know what 2+6 is, then they should be studying their first grade (or kindergarten? preschool?) math instead of playing video games. I have no problem with a simple math question like that, and it'd probably even be quicker for a player than typing a word as long as it was kept as single digit math. Not a bad idea at all. --Kyoshi (Talk) 16:00, 11 February 2010 (UTC)
