I can see their reasons for the current. What you're talking about is more of a hassle than anything, A long list of outposts, etc.. The Current is okay as you're not having to find this guy in any city outpost, etc. or traveling to the guild hall ever five seconds when the ship icon is good enough to travel to the main areas to get where you need to go. It's not that hard, even to pinpoint where things are. As dots do glow, etc. I don't see this proposal as a good working idea, but more complaints and headaches.
