FC Ele is a cute niche... but its not really that common Talamare 12:22, 23 September 2009 (UTC)
- That'd force primary elementalist to run high elemental attribute and energy storage severely deminishing their capabilities to fulfill utility roles (or least bringing skills for that.). Ɲoɕʈɋɽɕɧ 12:54, 23 September 2009 (UTC)
- Yes Noctarch is right. If I have to have both high elemental and energy storage it will leave little room things like curses or monks skills and however uncommon not every single elementalist uses energy storage. Wretched90 9:01, 23 September (CST)
- Perhaps instead of this idea a 50% failure with Estorage <5? Still accomplishes the same. Dark Morphon 15:47, 23 September 2009 (UTC)
- Since, the point of secondary professions was to allow for synergy between professions I am against a change like this. Mesmers running ele spells do certain things better than ele's like avoid interrupts, ele's running ele spells do certain things better than mesmers like damage. There is a trade off and blatently hindering diversity by hitting such key skills takes away from the games design.~>Sins WDB 16:19, 23 September 2009 (UTC)
- There is a difference between allowing synergy and blatantly allowing a profession to take over the role of another profession. Rangers using daggers, warriors using scythes, necromancers using rit heals, practically the same problem. Dark Morphon 12:02, 24 September 2009 (UTC)
- Yea and making scythes require mysticism... daggers require critical strikes... and every ritualist heal be moved into spawning power...... is the best solution Talamare 12:33, 24 September 2009 (UTC)
- I only move an energy management skill which is needed to keep up with the costs associated with frequently using these skills so that Mesmers can still use these skills, but not like the Elementalist can. Look at Divine Favor. It's still possible to use useful protection skills on other classes, you just don't get the bonus heal and are thus not able to keep your party alive like your Monks can. It's just additional support, which is exactly what secondairy professions should be about, supporting, not taking over the profession's role. Dark Morphon 13:20, 24 September 2009 (UTC)
- I don't see a problem with FC eles. It's a simple trade off of extra energy for a lower cast time. No need to punish them further. Rypofalem 00:48, 27 September 2009 (UTC)
- The point is that they are taking over the role of Water Elementalists. Since no regular Mesmer will ever take an Attunement it doesn't affect them. FC eles were/are a problem because they actually are better Water Elementalists than Elementalists themselves because they have too much access to energy management skills. They can of course always take Inspiration Magic skills but there is a point where it's just not worth it anymore. That's where I'm going for. Dark Morphon 06:46, 27 September 2009 (UTC)
- Still not seeing water ele's go away. Not sure why you said they are replacing them. ~>Sins WDB 03:07, 1 October 2009 (UTC)
- With "replacing them" I mean entirely taking over their role. FC Water Eles are pretty much impossible to interrupt, something that is fine if they can't use skills as frequently as conventional Water Elementalists but since they have nearly as much access to energy management skills there isn't much reason to run conventional Eles except for the damage, something that's only really useful with Mirror of Ice, which make Elementalists very spiky (something that isn't a good property either). Dark Morphon 16:03, 1 October 2009 (UTC)
- Still not seeing them be replaced. Also, how is the ele being used for spike damage a bad thing? It's what they do and have always done.
- Elementalists summon the powers of earth, air, fire, and water and command them at will. They can inflict more damage in a single strike than any other profession. - http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Elementalist~>Sins WDB 04:09, 2 October 2009 (UTC)
- You're better off looking at how Elementalists were used in the past in PvP than you are quoting that page. It oftenly doesn't reflect reality. That page makes it look like doing damage is the Elementalist's primary role while actually it's supporting your party. Dark Morphon 07:56, 2 October 2009 (UTC)

Except the current meta says primary snare eles > FC eles. Pika Fan 04:40, 2 October 2009 (UTC)
- Obviously since they have Mirror of Ice and Mesmers don't and since the current meta is somewhat spiky. Dark Morphon 07:56, 2 October 2009 (UTC)
- A bite of the reality sandwhich, guys. Eles were never damage dealers. When they were, the game broke. See Smiteway, Airspike, And, a more recent example, Shockwave Spike. Ele's cannot do damage, period.
- A water mesmer can do just as well without her attunement. GoLE is enough energy management, and you can just replace the attunement slot with Auspicious Incantation. Little less effective, perhaps, but also much harder to counter as attunements are almost always striped.
- If you want water eles to replace water mesmers, just lower water spell cast times. Follow this with a global recharge increase of major water hexes, and you're in the bag. -- NUKLEAR IIV 19:29, 5 October 2009 (UTC)
- Are you kidding, lets give Shard Storm, Blurred Vision, Freezing Gust etc all what? 1/4 cast times? Because that's balanced. Frosty 19:38, 5 October 2009 (UTC)
- The main reason E/x is being run over Me/E is because nobody is running Powerblock in the current meta, and that's the only reaosn Me/E was ever used, to avoid nasty dom mesmers. Even without attunement, good usage of Inspiration magic would cover the cost of using Water Magic. Frosty 19:32, 5 October 2009 (UTC)
- I didn't say .25 sec casts. In fact, all those skills are pretty fine. Deep Freeze could use a reduction to 1 sec, but that's debatable.
- Also, your logic is contradictive. If water mesmers are only ran to avoid Pblock, and if Pblock is not used in the current meta, then why are there Water mesmers in the current meta? -- NUKLEAR IIV 20:22, 5 October 2009 (UTC)
