Feedback talk:User/Goril/Minigames in EOTN

This is actually something that I normally would not agree with, but in this case, I like it. It would be very fun to compete against other players in Polymock or Dwarven Boxing. In fact, before EotN was released and I watched trailers that showed these minigames, I thought that they would be PvP minigames, like the Dragon Arena or Costume Brawl. These would work out very well because every player would have the same sets of skills, so it would come down to tactics and timing entirely. Something does need to be done to liven up these minigames. They are a great addition to the game, but the only time people are involved in them is when they are doing the coinciding quests. Once you've finished those quests, there really is no reason to go back and play them again. And what use does a polymock piece ever avail you when you get one from a dungeon chest reward? Nothing. In regards to adding new titles, that is something that many people are opposed to, but I think your suggestions would work very well. --MushaUser Musha Sigc.pngTalk 04:36, 17 November 2009 (UTC)

Well, this is a valid concern about the minigames, but there has to be a "but," or even a few. New titles are out of the question, because it has an impact on GWAMM and HoM. My concern about the PvP aspect of this is that it would be extremely stale. I've completed the Polymock quest series on I think 4 chars now, and I'm literally dreading doing it on the next, but the summon skills are just too tempting to pass. Brawling has only one bar, and after a few matches I can't imagine anyone staying interested in the gameplay itself. If there was a nice reward, people would only play it for the reward, but not for the play itself. Polymock has much better potential here, but it also has the danger of falling into a meta, even if there were more pieces in the rotation, and if they were more easily available. Some Polymock pieces are clearly superior to the rest, and they will be the most common in PvP, same fate that befell TA and HvH. Worst case, it will be a play of the same pieces against each other. Best case, it might become something like Rock/Paper/Scissors, where some of the best pieces can beat others but lose to some, and there's no single winner. This very much reminds me of the Costume Brawl, which suffers from the same problem, but that's a different discussion an does not belong here. All in all, the current rewards for repeating minigames beyond completing the associated quests are laughable, and need to be increased. But I don't see this as potential minigames that people will play over and over just because it's fun — it's only fun the first few times, and this falls exponentially the more you play. I disagree with the entire suggestion. The minigames are annoying and already too in-your-face. Additionally, Linsey has stated repeatedly that she does not want to do things that will further schism the PvP population, like your suggestions would. --Emkyooess 18:34, 18 November 2009 (UTC)

I agree with you, Rose. I think it would become exactly as you described, too. But I can't help thinking about the polymock pieces that you get in dungeon chest rewards. What a waste! Unless something was instituted to better utilize those items. Which I would very much like to see, otherwise I am going to be very angry every time I get one of those UTTERLY USELESS items. --MushaUser Musha Sigc.pngTalk 00:57, 19 November 2009 (UTC)

  • Norn torunament: 1vs1. Not for GW.
  • Dwarven Brawling: This would actually be a good idea. Change the environmental effect so anyone that is not fighting gets increasing health degeneration, and to make impossible to tag against one enemy so fights are 1on 1, and to ignore equipment and attributes (so people can't use the rare knucles to deal more than 10-10) and you get a perfect deathmatch arena for festivals, in which everyone fights everyone else, with the same build. But ONLY for special events, to get gamer points. I wouldn't have that available all the time.
  • Polymock. WAY too much dependent on latency, because it's mainly based on interruptions. Now, if the fights were 2vs2, then maybe. But still only for festivals. MithUser MithranArkanere Star.pngTalk 16:06, 8 February 2010 (UTC)
GW PvP is already kind of... broken. That would be like another punch in its face. This works as a "just for fun" thing, but only until you get ANY reward for it, and that's when all hell breaks loose. But who does stuff "just for fun" anymore? People farm stuff, money titles, faction, etc. This would be baed...
Norn - don't see the point. It's just a scrimmage. Guilds do these all the time on weekends.
Dwarf - people hanging out on the outside with a hit-and-run strategy to avoid being mobbed at the start.
Poly - WTS Ruby Djinn/etc. Polymock piece for 100k+xx! PM ME! User Rose Of Kali SIG.jpgRose Of Kali 03:52, 9 February 2010 (UTC)
As I say, the brawling would require penalization for 'cowardize', not fighting would mean you will lose health, and if you remove the autoregen, you won't recover it unless you defeat anyone. If the only source of health recovery is the one you get when you defeat an enemy, and 'kill steals' are made impossible by code, either you are in the middle of the fight taking out enemies, or outside of it with +10 health degeneration, becoming the next tastiest target. And for Polymock, I won't allow just all pieces. The list would be limited to what 'everyone has'. So if you, allies and opponents have one pieces, everyone can use it. If no one does you can't. The drops of those figures is waay to low to make them an advantage of any kind in any PvP mode, even if it's just a special event minigame. If, either, or, only, would, could, limited, unless.... and then it all becomes even more painfully bland and boring than it already is in its current incarnation. Making something dead more complicated to try to revive it is only gonna make it more... dead. Fewer Poke-pieces means fewer choices and less variation: boring. I said hit-and-run, which means you jump in to steal a kill and gtfo before you're the next target being mobbed, people will still figure out the balance in the race of getting killed by a mob of players chasing each other or a stupid environment effect. If you ever read anything about the "psychology of a crowd" you will see why this chaos is doomed, especially on the small maps we see in GW, and no they won't make fresh maps tailored to this mess.
