There will be map travel, not portals. - Giant Nuker 20:32, 14 February 2010 (UTC)
No, there will be Portals not Map Jumping like GW1 Thats what the Asura Gates are for. To portal between zones.--Knighthonor 15:02, 6 March 2010 (UTC)
Actually we are both wrong I checked where I thought map travel would be stated as the main transportation and it says both are possibilities, but the final part is still unknown. [|Link is Here]
That doesnt say map travel will be the same. All we know so far is Asura Gates are taking its place. We dont know how they work yet, but seems strange for Anet to add Asura gates to the game just for it to be the same system as before. Think about it. Why add something, if basically it was going to stay the same?--Knighthonor 10:25, 7 March 2010 (UTC)
I'll even copy and paste what it says for map travel: "Will map travel stay in the game? There are many references which suggest instant map travel will return because it is considered one of the strong features of the original Guild Wars. Asura gates have also been mentioned as part of the map travel network. How these will function and whether they are actually the sole means of map travel is unknown." That leaves a lot of room for change so it could be either, plus Guild Wars 2 isn't going to be out until 2011 so once again they have lots of time to change it. Let's both shut up and declare it unknown. - Giant Nuker 14:14, 7 March 2010 (UTC)
Which Suggest? So thats what you making your arguement on? That doesnt state map Travel will return. That was a assuption that it will return. --Knighthonor 08:23, 11 March 2010 (UTC)
Same thing with your asura gate theory. - Giant Nuker 12:36, 11 March 2010 (UTC)
- Sea Mounts--Knighthonor 03:26, 3 July 2010 (UTC)
- sea mounts is also very VERY unlikely as there will be SWIMMING. Let's not make this game a WoW clone and keep mounts out. 76.208.15.173 00:55, 4 August 2010 (UTC)
It's highly unlikely that there will be mounts in GW2. It is much more likely that you will be able to map-travel to most towns that you've been to and asuran gates will be for entering underground caves, dungeons, and other places inconvenient to place on a map. It has been stated explicitly that there is a map with easy-to-use controls, which makes it likely that it will be for more than just looking at. Mounts are made even less likely due to environmental weapons like catapults. -~=Ϛρѧякγ (τѧιк) 03:58, 3 July 2010 (UTC)
- There is a returning "map travel" mechanic in the form of waypoints, but those have a limited range and/or require a fee. --Kyoshi (Talk) 04:04, 3 July 2010 (UTC)
Moa? There are no horses in GW2. Moa is the best replacement. --Miteshu 20:20, 6 September 2010 (UTC)
Mounts? Are you kidding? We didn't have them in GW1 for a reason. What would be the point? Mounts are designed to make players look like pompous fools while only sometimes offering movement speed bonuses. Map travel or portals, either way travel is going to be easier than running from one end of the world to the other, provided you've been there before. Even if you haven't, I'm sure there will be movement haste skills and plenty of runners to get you where you need to go. Another WoW suggestion torn to pieces in a place it didn't belong.
