Reasons for option acceptance of bounties[edit]
While in general, I love the idea of not having to take the bounty each time, but I can see a few reasons that automatic acceptance of the bounty might not be such a great thing. I bring these up to fine tune the subject, not to argue against it.
- - NF/EotN bounty when close to rank 8 - I would hate to waste a NM book because I was close to the cut off and was automatically given the bounty. For example, if Slavers' is the last dungeon in my book that I am filling to boost my Asura well past the 80k rep for rank 8, I would hate to reach 80k on the way to getting to Slavers' because I couldn't avoid enough foes.
- - Kurz/Luxon - If I want to choose which rep I want to collect. For example, if I have no rep at present and want to vanquish Mourning Veil Falls for Kurz rep, Durheim Archives is under is Luxon control and perhaps I haven't gotten to Amatz Basin yet.

- Good points, Adeira. Addressing them in the order given:
- This could be handled by allowing players either to cancel bounties or to block automatic acquisition, or both. Because the situation you describe occurs only during the narrow band of reputation near the NM/HM rank boundary, and hence only during a short period for each such boundary in the game, I suggest that the default be automatic bounty acquisition since this will benefit most people most of the time. An option to turn this off would then handle your special cases, perhaps with the help of a checkbox in the Options window.
- Because Kurzick and Luxon Priests only ever give a blessing of their own faction, and therefore an interactive choice is never required, being able to disable automatic acquisition would address this second requirement as well. You would just keep it disabled until you arrive at the shrine of your choice.
- Another possibility is that automatic acquisition be enabled only after one has obtained a bounty once manually by interacting with the shrine NPC. Although this would be helpful for your second point, I don't like it at all because it adds a hurdle, and worse, in some regions like Kourna it would add much uncertainty because of the sheer number of different types of bounties available (insects, plants, Kournans, heket, elementals, etc). You would always be wondering if the shrine you are near has a bounty that you haven't enabled manually yet, and you wouldn't know until you spoke to the NPC, which would negate the benefit of making this automatic. (This would happen repeatedly!) So, I'd prefer to have a user-controlled block instead. Morgaine 19:51, 31 January 2012 (UTC)

Support[edit]
I support the Paperwork Reduction Act of 2012 and this would be one way of doing it. I've suggested changing bounties to require a single click, but I'm beginning to prefer your idea of automatically granting the bounty and enabling the player to remove it. Those that want to min/max can micro their rewards (which they will do anyhow); those that just want to play have one less thing to worry about. – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 19:04, 12 February 2012 (UTC)
