This is a good idea however a much simpler one is to just apply a mirror effect on the character which would be a single step to cause all animations, appearances and equips to appear normal, also it would correct assymmetrical armor with things like holsters s o that they appear on the proper side of the character. - The problem with that is it would make everything be mirrored, which may not be a desired thing. It would be up to the arenanet designers to decide if they were ok with the total flip, or if they wanted it to remain a certain way. But on that note, a mirror effect could be placed over simply the character's appearance, effectively flipping armors and the like. - to answer his question, Diablo has a version of this, but not noticable. But it would make for a nice change. but if you notice, for a warrior, the sword is in the Right and sheild left, but an Archer has the bow in the left to pull the string. they also have this with staffs too, Depending on the profession they have it in different hands(or I might be seeing things)

- Nah, all professions (in GW1 at least) use weapons based on what hand the said weapon goes in, no variation. In GW2 the weapon goes in the hand that is able to hold it, offhand items and weapons go in the left "passive" hand, main weapons go in the right "dominant" hand, and two-handed weapons would have their respective "dominant" hand. I doubt variation on this is currently in GW2, other than perhaps what hand you hold two handed weapons in while idle based on profession or perhaps race and gender. This suggestion would let you choose what hand would be "dominant," which would then trigger the requirement for asymmetrical armors being flipped or not, while other emotes or actions would need to remain the same. Such actions could be pulling a lever to fire a catapult; the catapult would probably be designed to be worked by a single "emote" to save data resources, and not have two different emotes based on your dominant preference.
