Your suggestion would be bad for elementalists. Elementalists are supposed to have high amounts of energy. That's why they have exhaustion in some spells to counter with their almost limitless energy. So, instead changing it to energy regeneration, it should be partially linked to Energy storage, like the 'Glowing' spells, to make it less effective for other professions, but keeping the immense energy gain for elementalists. - I've never seen Mind Blast used on a non Elementalist primary. Tying the glowing skills to Energy Storage was to prevent secondary abuse, IE, Mesmers. My understanding is that Mind Blast is an issue because it offers too much energy in too small a time frame. Soul Reaping was a similar issue and a ceiling was put into place to try and contain the engine. Changing Mind Blast to energy regeneration applies a similar cap to the amount of energy it can return, forcing the template to do more than hit skills on recharge. - This skill will be a problem as long as it nets both energy and damage. ~Shard 02:07, 4 September 2009 (UTC)
- That may be true, but this suggestion also addresses some of the "spammablity" of that energy regain by making it return over time instead of instantly. (sorta like splitting Cry-way's damage over time so that echoing it became a bit pointless) --ilr 03:05, 4 September 2009 (UTC)
- Right. Looking at from another perspective would be +3 energy regeneration over 1...7...8 seconds. Same energy return, just takes longer. The concept should deal with some of the issues currently present with the Mind Blast template, just the regeneration and duration would need to be tweaked just right. - Somewhere around 3 energy regeneration would be just right. Currently, at 4 seconds of 6 energy regeneration, ignoring 40/40 casts, Mblast -> Immolate -> MBlast has already 2.5 seconds in delay. This number wouldn't even be important because the only time mblast eles get to chain their spells in a row would be when they are killing NPCs, which they would have to retreat fairly often at any semi-decent level due to countersplits anyway, giving them lots of time to regain whatever energy the proposed mindblast wouldn't give. They would still have infinite energy spamming mblast(@ 2 energy) and immolate(@ 5 energy) even if they have to stand still to do it on a 40/40 set; it wouldn't even significantly affect the rate in which they can spam rodgorts. - Edited the main page to reflect the +3 regeneration rate. +6 would definitely be too quick. Racthoh 20:53, 4 September 2009 (UTC)

- Have you considered altering the regen inside of the duration ie - you have +0...5 energy regen for 5 seconds (rough numbers) Talamare 23:47, 4 September 2009 (UTC)
- I just used 3 and 6 because I'm lazy with the math. :P Racthoh 03:03, 5 September 2009 (UTC)
- well 3x1 and 3x8 = 3-24 1/3 points of energy, with 5 seconds as duration its 0-25 1/3 points of energy Talamare 09:55, 7 September 2009 (UTC)
- Good concept Racthoh. I like it. Magic Talk 21:13, 17 September 2009 (UTC)
- Tbh, Shard is right. As long as this nets both damage and energy, you'll never be able to balance it properly. You can fiddle with the numbers as much as you want, but, in the end, this'll be either useless or broken.
- Your version is worse than Ether Prodigy. It nets me less energy, does flare damage and chokes my elite slot. It's simpler for me to either take a better energy elite or simply use glowing gaze or another energy management skill - Glyph, Attune, Resto Aura, AI, you name it.
- This needs a complete reworking. -- NUKLEAR IIV 15:21, 9 October 2009 (UTC)
- The damage of mind blast is equal to the damage of an auto-attacking warrior using no skills at all. The moment the warrior uses ANY attack skill wih bonus damage or an IAS he outdamages an elementalist using this ELITE skill. And that is against AC 60, it is obviously worse against AC 100. 217.225.83.159
- You're right, that DOES make Mind Blast overpowered! Getting the damage of an additional unblockable warrior AND infinite Energy to spam high-damage or support skills during the downtime is just too good. This is a good suggestion idea. -~=Ϛρѧякγ (τѧιк) 05:31, 2 May 2010 (UTC)
- You do not get an "additional warrior", you get ignorable damage. 217.225.127.138 08:09, 4 May 2010 (UTC)
