If you need help...[edit]
i suggest pointing to http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Help:Contents and subpages instead of http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Help:Contents. the articles there are much cleaner, shorter (and therefore less repulsive) and imo also more helpful. - Y0_ich_halt 21:16, 15 April 2008 (UTC)
- Imo the meta sites are more detailed and filled with a lot more examples (as they are used on wikipedia, which is more for newcomers than mediawiki.org which is more a documentation) poke | talk 21:23, 15 April 2008 (UTC)
- yes, metawiki is more detailed, in fact, way too much for beginners. the page length is an important factor for newbies; just seeing my browser load a page that is no shorter than ~20 screens will make me close that tab and look for something else. in opposition to that, mediawiki has short articles, focused on what's important and with the right examples to introduce new users to the essential points. as a welcome, they're better suited. metawiki with all its deeper-going info should be somewhere for advanced editing. - Y0_ich_halt 12:28, 16 April 2008 (UTC)
- Those links are for users who want more details.. And if they are afraid of the page length and close it, I think they are not really interested in the topics. We still have Help:Editing. poke | talk 12:46, 16 April 2008 (UTC)
- we're on the "welcome" page here, and discussing a section called "if you need help", not a community portal's "if you're interested and have too much free time"-section. the info should therefore be suited for beginners who have no idea what templates/tables are anyway, which metawiki's articles are obviously not. i quote from template help's talk: "To say that Help:Template is written badly would be giving Help:Template too much credit - Odessaukrain 17:10, 4 April 2008 (UTC)". - Y0_ich_halt 14:08, 16 April 2008 (UTC)

for the last time: meta is rubbish, trash, dump, whatever you prefer, for beginners, that's a fact and not an opinion. mediawiki also offers several languages, so that's no argument at all. you need to reconsider your point here, since your repeting statements lead me to the conclusion that you didn't even bother looking at mediawiki's pages. - Y0_ich_halt 19:10, 16 April 2008 (UTC)
- Maybe as a compromise change it to something like this:
- Just a thought, since then people can choose which they prefer? --Kakarot 19:23, 16 April 2008 (UTC)
- ya, i thought of linking to both, too, but i couldn't come up with a nice layout like yours ^^ - Y0_ich_halt 19:27, 16 April 2008 (UTC)
- Yeah I had originally tried to create a table but it didn't work out so well, see below:

Wiki and Game Feedback introduction request[edit]
Could someone add something to the welcome page that would help new users in finding and understanding where to go for offering feedback to the wiki and the game? I'd try myself, but I honestly cannot track down anything pertaining to wiki feedback and had confused Feedback portal as being this when it only pertains to the Game. Friendly cute banners[edit]
Can we load some friendly cute banners to post on new users talk pages who have just done their very first edit? I don't know where to find such images that wouldn't violate copyrights. Any graphic designers around? Yoshida Keiji (talk) 14:27, 20 October 2012 (UTC)
- We don't do welcome templates here :x Chieftain Alex 14:52, 20 October 2012 (UTC)
