In the misty waters to the west Fahranur, miles away from the Istani coast, lies the Island of Pashar. A tropical island paradise in the warm Elonian sun, Pashar is in many ways idyllic. Cool freshwater springs bubble up from the fertile earth. Flamingos wade the warm shallows, feasting upon shrimp. Exotic plants roam the lush jungles of the island. Grand and ancient architecture, now broken and crumbled, speaks of a history filled with the high hopes of men. High hopes that were, more than once, brought crashing down.
In the year 82 DR, an ancient djinnmaster built his palace upon this island, but the djinn who were his power were also his undoing. After his death in 87 DR, the island lay forgotten by all but the djinn residing upon it. It would be over five hundred years before human civilization would return.
In the 600's DR, the Island of Pashar was rediscovered, and an ambitious building project was begun. A specialized academy was to be opened here: a place where hand-picked magic users from the Order of the Sunspears could learn to bind djinn in secret, to aid the Sunspear cause. Before this academy could ever open, however, the populations of Istan and Pashar were decimated by the Scarab Plague. The island was once again lost in the mists.
In 1279 DR, humanity once again lit upon the island's cursed shore. A small guild known as the Scarabs restored the Elemental Academy to its former glory. They brought in students and scholars from across Tyria to study combat, history, and magic. With their arrival came the return of Rah Amun Bashandi Shu, djinn lord of the island. The djinn welcomed the humans, and for the space of just over a year, coexisted with them in peace. Then, one day, the humans angered the djinn lord Rah one time too many. The djinn rose up and slaughtered the humans with fire, water, and storm. They burned their ships and broke their buildings down to rubble. What few humans survived that day were scattered to the winds, leaving behind only memories and ghosts.

A note from Lady Alasse: As our members' muses have fled and our foci have turned to other things, Ruah has gone inactive. Several of our old members do still play, and occasionally will get together to RP some more. However, most of us are not united by a common cape any longer. That's the way things go, and all you can really do is roll with it. If you were looking at Ruah as a potential guild, I'm sorry to say that there's not much here anymore. I do wish you luck on your search for an RP community on Guild Wars, and if our paths ever meet in-game, I'm usually happy to RP with just about anyone.

Ruah is a guild with a strong OOC base, and one of the few roleplaying guilds still active in Guild Wars. We work hard to cultivate a relaxed, fun atmosphere, where fellowship and good roleplaying are prevalent. However, IC, let the drama rage! Pleasant and unpleasant characters are welcome, so long as they are well-developed and credible. Whether our characters are hacking each other to pieces, falling in love, or just talking about the weather, we're forming friendships on the side and enjoying the show.
Ruah has no age restrictions for our members, but we do deal with mature content IC-- violence, language, sexual content, etc. We expect all of our members to be prepared to handle these themes.
Recruitment
Ruah has officially gone inactive, and is no longer recruiting.
If you’re the sort of person who reads the lore articles on this site, who puts a great deal of time into developing the personality and backstory of your character, who responds favorably to critique and is not afraid to give it, then Ruah might be the place for you. Originally founded June 13th, 2010 by Lady Alasse and Caelan Sorel, Ruah is committed to keeping roleplaying alive in a time when it has all but disappeared from the Guild Wars community.
Joining Ruah is difficult, because we hold our members to high standards. We try to only invite people we think will fit into the community we’ve created. If you want to join the guild, expect us to take our time getting to know you, both in and out of character. Please keep in mind that one of the first things we will look at in potential new members is the way they type. (if ur talking like this, ur less likely 2 get an invite)
If you want to become associated with Ruah, to learn what we’re about and to get to know us better, contact us! We often roleplay in the international districts of towns and outposts, and we welcome roleplayers of all experience levels to join in with us. This RPing is done in local chat, using trade chat for our characters’ thoughts, and team chat or ((double parentheses)) for OOC chat. We love meeting new roleplayers. Even if you never intend to join our guild, please feel free to whisper us and ask if there’s any RPing going on. You’ll likely have the best luck between 11 PM and 3 AM Eastern time, when more of us tend to be online.

If you have questions about Ruah or would like to join, feel free to contact an officer or leader. Alternatively, visit our Guild Portal site, where you can read up on us a bit and/or apply for membership at our forums. Please keep in mind that most of us consider whispers to be OOC unless otherwise noted.
