Our Guild Leader Is Afk [HSTL] is a Guild Wars Kurzick-allied guild with 90+ members and 8 officers led by Sister Hostile. The guild is active in both PvE and PvP game play. The members participate in daily, weekly and weekend bonus events. Guildmates are frequently found farming together and solo, running, capping, title chasing, and doing campaigns. [HSTL]'s guild hall is located at Hunter's Isle. With regular cape design contests, the cape is constantly changing.
Guild History
Pre-[HSTL]
[HSTL] guild first began as Team Nadesico [MiYu]. Team Nadesico [MiYu] was founded by Yamato Nadesico on 2/24/2006. Sister Hostile, nicknamed Hostile, the current guild leader or [HSTL], joined on 3/23/2006. The guild started out as character-advancing PvE. It died after about 6 months because the former leader had other real-life priorities. Hostile was then auto-designated as Guild Leader. Only one member of the original few who joined remains. In April of 2007, Sister Hostile began expanding the guild. The expansion of 90 members left them with nearly 70 weekly active members, some of which are still around to this day.
On 9/17/2006, Team Nadesico formed an alliance with the infamous Gods of Deaths Sanctuary [GODS]. The alliance grew rapidly, until it finally fell apart.
Then, on 9/29/2008, Team Nadesico split from its former alliance and formed a new one with Through The Eyes Of The Dragon [eyes].

Reformation and Beyond
On May 9th, 2009, Team Nadesico reformed as Our Guild Leader is Afk [HSTL]. With aspirations of becoming a PvP guild, this allowed the guild to reset their guild rank. Team Nadesico's was decimated over the years by unorganized, random GvGing. The other reason for the reformation was to give Sister Hostile, who had been running the guild for nearly three years, a guild of her own. The name was chosen to give homage to Sister Hostile's notorious knack for being AFK (as she juggles her real-life responsibilities). The tag, HSTL, was also an homage to her name. The guild name and tag were chosen in a naming contest, hosted on the guild's forum, that took place prior to the reformation. The original plans to become a PvP only guild eventually fell through as Sister Hostile's schedule changed due to real-life commitments.
The guild rejoined the Through the Eyes of the Dragon [eyes] alliance, following the reformation.
On Nov. 21st, 2010, members of the [eyes] Alliance found their guilds had been kicked from the alliance. The officers of [eyes] were demoted and a message was left for all members stating that Moretta (the guild leader) would no longer be playing and suggested they find another guild. Leadership was forfeited but the alliance remained dissolved.
Following the collapse of the [eyes] Alliance, [HSTL] switched allegiance, allying with Luxon alliances, to allow many of the members, Sister Hostile included, the opportunity to max their Luxon title.
In early July of 2011, [HSTL] joined the Atlantis Gaters Alliance, a Kurzick-allied allaince. The Atlantis Gaters alliance met the same unfortunate end that the [eyes] alliance had. Their leader was also inactive too frequently, resulting in many guilds leaving the alliance without being replaced. With an unfilled alliance, including one spot being taken by the mostly inactive remnants of Through The Eyes Of The Dragon [eyes], members of the alliance, including Sister Hostile, decided it was time to reform under new leadership.
On July 26th, 2011, [HSTL] and two other guilds (Through The Eyes Of The Dragon [eyes] and Dark Pheonix Risin [DPR]) left the Atlantis Gater's Alliance, reforming with old alliance guild Its More Fun When Its [Wet], with [eyes] as the leader. The new alliance remains a Kurzick-allied alliance.

Guild Events
Summer Contest Series
In anticipation of the release of Guild Wars 2, we are hoping to give our guild members and alliance friends an opportunity for an enjoyable, and memorable experience at launch. To do so, we are hosting a series of weekend contests throughout the summer in conjunction with our alliance hosted lotto and trivia (see here). The rewards for the various contests and games will be almost strictly items for your Hall of Monuments (so that we can get everyone's halls filled up as much as possible) but may include additional prizes such as black dye, lockpicks and gold. We will be announcing each contest on our guild Facebook page (link will follow) with details regarding the type of contest that will be featured that week!
Some items to expect include:
- Armbraces of Truth for Tormented weapons
- Stacks of War Supplies for Oppressor's weapons
- Destroyer weapons
- Various armor remnants for hero armor
- Rubies and sapphires to help out with acquiring Vabbian armor
- Obsidian shards and globs of ectoplasm for Obsidian armor
- Various rarities of undedicated miniatures
- Consumable sweets, alcohol and party points!
CURRENT EVENT: HSTL's Summer Contest Series Event 1
Cape Contest
Every few months [HSTL] hosts a cape contest to design a new cape. Guild members have two weeks to visit a guild emblemer and design new capes (there is no limit to the number of entries). The entries are posted on the forum and are judged by Sister Hostile and a panel of guest judges. Three winners are chosen. The second and third place capes become the guild cape for a week each while the 1st place cape remains the cape until the next contest. In addition to become the guild cape, each winner is awarded a prize, similar to those mentioned above. Only guild members are allowed to participate.

We have recently launched a new Facebook fan page. Unlike our old group page, this one does not require an admin to accept your request to join, making this more accessible for our members and alliance friends. As most people are more familiar with Facebook anyway, it is also inherently more user friendly. We will thus be using this page as our primary means of communication regarding events and announcements!
Guild Forum
To access the guild forum, follow the link below and register. Use your guildwars name as your username and be sure to put your guild tag in the required field (our forum is open to all members of the alliance).
Guild Rules
- Every member is required to know these rules and the leader and officers will keep them implemented.
- Should you have a problem as a result of someone not following these rules, there are two options: message the person to remind them of the rules and/or message an available officer or leader.
- Ignorance is not a valid excuse; members are expected to know every law the guild has, and if one is broken, they will be dealt with.
- Under NO circumstances shall there be any hateful or slanderous remarks, or any form of offensive language used in any guild-related areas whatsoever.
- This includes any personal opinions regarding sexuality, religion or race (or any other sensitive topics) and includes profanity and name-calling.
- No member of the guild should ever be harassed in any way by another member of the guild (this rule simply states that we should all get along).
- Spamming will not be tolerated!
- If you want to buy, sell, or get help with the game, ask. Once! If no response, that means no one has what you need, wants what you have, or people are busy at the moment. You may ask again later — just do not spam.
- Remember, if you help others you are more likely to receive help when you need it. You are always free to message officers who will try to help you when they are available.
- Guild members please do NOT ask superiors for promotions.
- If one should wish to become an officer, see officer requirements; be sure you meet the criteria before stating interest in a promotion. And have your resume ready!
- Guild members who remain inactive for 1 month will be removed from the guild unless they have arranged with the guild leader a reason for such a prolonged absence.
- This is not meant to be mean but the guild does have a set member limit and as we grow it becomes harder to leave inactive members on the guild roster. If you should get booted from the guild due to lack of activity and then come back to find that you are guildless please ask one of the officers or leader to re-invite you if you wish to come back.
