Hey all, gather around for I have a tale to tell about our guild Tokyo Knights [TK]. The guild wasn't created at the very start of the game; it was more of a huge decision to make while the Current Guild Leader (Van) was a member of his former guild The Order of the Dragon and Phoenix [dp]. Seeing what fun it would to be able to gather around, meet new people, recruiting into a guild, and just starting fresh gave me the motivation to create a guild of his own. When the guild was first created, it wasn't all glamor and full of everything it needed; it recieved alot help from friends and members of the Order [dp] whom which are still in contact with today and are banded together in an strong alliance.
At first the guild's name wasn't "Tokyo Knights", but it was named "Yotaka No Yume [YoY]" instead which means "Dream of Night Hawks". After a while it seemed to have some minor troubles with members and a few bumps on the road (considering many of the members loved Japan yes, but spoke not a single word of it), the members and Guild Leader Van felt that fresh start was needed. Thus, the "Tokyo Knights" were born. The guild itself is not just a bunch of strangers who randomly get invited into the guild, but rather it is composed of friends and family. Eventually, a few of the original guildies from [dp] joined including: Lady Gwen, Nick Chaos Feather, Bikazig. We may still be a small guild, but we are slowly growing and are having much fun in the process.
Tokyo Knights [TK] is a member of The Order of the Dragon and Phoenix Alliance. We are a Luxon Alliance Guild that take part in PVE, AB, and soon GVG and HoH.
Currently Inhabbiting "Warrior's Isle" as their main base of operations, the guild halls for the Tokyo Knights never remains the same for too long seeing as how Van Sama loves to spice things up every now and then althought usually the changed go along with the seasons same as the colors on the Tokyo Knight's Cape (Note: its possible another change may soon be coming up for the Christmas Holidays) but until this Isle remains the location of all guild scrimmages, events, and meetings which occur quite frequently.
Knights of Tokyo
Tokyo (東京, Tōkyō?), or more formally Tokyo Metropolis (東京都, Tōkyō-to?), is one of the 47 prefectures of Japan and provides certain municipal services characteristic of a city, as defined by Japanese law because it is the seat of the Japanese government and the Imperial Palace, and the home of the Japanese Imperial Family, Tokyo is the de facto capital of Japan.
The word "knight" derives from Old English cniht, meaning "page boy", or "servant" (as is still the case in the cognate Dutch knecht, German Knecht, Norwegian and Swedish knekt and Danish knægt for servant), or simply boy. The word "Samurai" in Japanese also comes from the verb "to serve". Samurai (侍, Samurai?) was a term for the military nobility of pre-industrial Japan. The term samurai originally meant "those who serve in close attendance to nobility", and was written in the Chinese character (or kanji) that had the same meaning. In Japanese, it was originally pronounced in the pre-Heian period as saburapi and later as saburai, then samurai in the Edo period. The Japanese verb "samorau," changed to "saburau," meaning "to serve"; thus, a "samurai" is a servant. Signifying that both the Samurai were the Knights of Japanese Culture seeing as how both (though used different methods and standards) stood for the same in they're cultures - Nobility, Honor, Defenders, Heroes.
A Hero (in Greek mythology and folklore), was originally a demi-god, the offspring of a mortal and a deity. Later, hero (male) and heroine (female) came to refer to characters that, in the face of danger and adversity or from a position of weakness, display courage and the will for self-sacrifice, that is, heroism, for some greater good, originally of martial courage or excellence but extended to more general moral excellence. The literal meaning of the word is "protector", "defender" or "guardian" and etymologically it is thought to be cognate with the name of the goddess Hera, the guardian of marriage;
Aside from it's deeper meanings, Guild Leader Van is a big Utada Hikaru fan and came up with the name "Tokyo Knights" from a song released in her Deep River album "Tokyo Nights".
