- This was made because of the images that are and were on Command Line.
- I understand this is a decision that ArenaNet will have to make... Hopefully this will push them in the right direcrtion.
- Point to think about:
- Can we do without MS screenshots on Command Line?

- we could try using a DOS screen as that is not copyrightable (black and white with only characters) Alexanderpas Talk|Contrib 16:15, 20 August 2007 (UTC)
Hm[edit]
Looks good for me, but we have to ask ANet for this. poke | talk 17:08, 9 August 2007 (UTC)
- Same. I support the changes but we'll have to see what A-Net have to say. --ChronicinabilitY 22:35, 10 August 2007 (UTC)
Some points:
- The restrictions and text in Guild Wars Wiki:Copyrighted content/Draft 070809/microsoft image seem to only apply to full screen shots, not general images. I'd guess that wording in this draft and the template name should be changed from "Microsoft image" to "Microsoft screen shot".
- Speedy deletion criteria I3 is not for all potential copyright violations, just blatant ones. There might, for example, be an image which seems like a violation but isn't.
- Wouldn't the images in Command line count as portions of a screen shot, and thus not fit the restrictions? It may be better to rely on fair use to justify some usages.

- Fair use is a good idea, but see Guild_Wars_Wiki_talk:Fair_Use#Note... -- Indochine talk 16:10, 20 August 2007 (UTC)
- While I agree that it could be useful with screenshots in Command line, I would have to say I dislike having copyrighted content on the wiki, especially from a company whose licenses have loopholes 90% of the times. I'll admit I have a hard time keeping my view on this specific issue objective, as I don't agree with the way microsoft's management runs their company, but I personally feel that Command line manages well without screenshots and if we start allowing content from one company it's only a matter of time before this turns into hundreds of legal noticeboxes and seeing as ANet hopes to eventually put the wiki on display in-game, that would most likely qualify as commercial use, and as such there'd be legal issues. Sticking to GFDL/public domain images is a whole lot easier in the long run, and I don't feel we're losing too much on only allowing those. — Galil 23:14, 4 March 2008 (UTC)
