Guild Wars Wiki talk:Elections/2008-06 bureaucrat election/Brains12
As much as I like you and respect you Brains, I have one "candidate question": What makes you feel that you are a better/more qualified candidate than the others in the field of candidates (DE, Aiiane, Tanetris, Anja, SMG)? Calor 18:32, 11 June 2008 (UTC)
- I wish I could answer that, but it's impossible. Some people on that list have a certain way of thinking different to others -- people vote/discuss on the way of thinking that they like best because that's what affects that candidate's actions. We've seen it before, with some saying that Aberrant would balance the twin pairing of Aiiane and Tanaric; Aiiane and Aberrant could balance Auron. So I can't really say if I'm better because I think the way that I think, and it's up to everyone else to decide whether that would be "better" -- it's why we have elections, RfAs and whatnot. I'm certainly not more qualified than Aiiane because she's seen it and done it, assuming experience is directly proportional to qualification.
- That's what the whole discussion and voting phases are for anyway -- to find the "best" candidate; that's inherent to the system, so really, it should be you (the collective) answering that question, not me. -- Brains12 \ talk 20:31, 11 June 2008 (UTC)
- Interesting answer. Thanks, Calor 23:20, 11 June 2008 (UTC)
- Well said. --People of Antioch 00:15, 12 June 2008 (UTC)
- Indeed. This election seems to be shaping up to be the direct opposite of the last one, instead of having only a few serious nominations hidden in a mass of joke ones, we have a bucket load of well respected and trusted users going for it. GL Plingggggg! -- Salome 07:59, 12 June 2008 (UTC)
- This guy has my vote 4 sure. -- NUKLEAR IIV 21:14, 12 June 2008 (UTC)
- You're about halfway to the contribution-count eligibility of 100, so you won't be able to vote (unless you increase your non-User/Guild/ArenaNet edits). You can participate in the discussion throughout the election, and specifically through the next phase, though. -- Brains12 \ talk 22:32, 12 June 2008 (UTC)
- The way you think is normally a good one. You're helpful and doing a good job for the wiki, so i'd also vote you. —ZerphaThe Improver 22:45, 12 June 2008 (UTC)

Question[edit]
(I'm also jumping on the bandwagon of people who ask the same question to all candidates, so bear with me a bit) I would like to ask, in what ways do you think being a bureaucrat would allow you to help the wiki more than as a common user or a sysop? Erasculio 02:13, 16 June 2008 (UTC)
- The only major additions that differ to my role at the moment are arbitration and deciding on RfAs. It requires gauging of user responses, watching what happens in discussion or heated debates, and decision making; to be honest, it's not that different to being a sysop, but I guess the biggest difference between taking action as a sysop and discussing/watching discussion as a bureaucrat is that you have more time to formulate a decision, whereas sysop decisions should be, in most cases, immediate. As a bureaucrat, coming to that decision usually involves one taking part in a debate (whether contributing to it directly or observing), and I think I'm good at that -- perhaps more so than I am as a sysop. What's more is that my logic, my intellect, and especially my modesty, are more active during this period. Not that I'm saying I'm as dead as dodo as sysop or user, but the process of something happening -> discussion -> debate -> decision gives those little grey cells an extra kick. -- Brains12 \ talk 03:03, 16 June 2008 (UTC)
Who else?[edit]
I just had a quick question. If you were not able to vote for yourself, what other current candidate would you vote for and why?--Yankeefan984 22:58, 16 June 2008 (UTC)
- At this stage, I have my inklings as to which people I'll be voting for and against (or not at all); however, as this is the discussion phase, I may be swayed to another direction. I'll likely vote near the end of the voting stage, when most of the discussion has taken place. Because of that, you'll have to wait until the next stage to see who I'm voting for, (I won't be voting for myself anyway, so I guess this is like any other election.) -- Brains12 \ talk 23:48, 16 June 2008 (UTC)
Hi brains[edit]
I've come back just in time! I'll be voting just as soon as I've logged in. 83.104.37.31 (Ebany Salmonderiel) 08:06, 22 June 2008 (UTC)
