Guild Wars Wiki talk:Elections/2008-10 bureaucrat election/People of Antioch
Amazing[edit]
Discussion has been started when discussion should be started!! Seems like all the discussion happened in the nomination phase....Anyways. I'm going to start off with the regular questions for ya.
- Why do you want to be a bureaucrat?
- Do you feel that you could be used to your full potential as a bureaucrat?
- What makes you unique or different from the other candidates?
- Can you explain to me how you would handle an ArbCom involving a "major" troll?
Thanks! -- Wandering Traveler 03:58, 17 October 2008 (UTC)

- I agree with my fellow wikiers. This guy is a good sysop. Why not make him better? We can squeeze more juice from this orange. Im voting for you! --Burning Freebies 08:44, 18 October 2008 (UTC)
Answering Wandering Traveler[edit]
Thanks for the questions Wandering Traveler! I want to be a bureaucrat for the same reason I am a user here: to make it better. Many of the candidates want that as well. Though I believe we all (the candidates and I) will benefit if I take this bit of Bureaucrat first. The reason behind that statement is this: most of the candidates would do better as Sysops! This was/is a hot topic issue in the form of Brain's discussion too. I just believe it is in the wiki's best interests to have someone who is level headed. I have not ever had an outburst (afai-perceived) against a user, and I can collaborate with the other B-Crats during RfAs.
As for being used to full potential, I want the wiki to be a better place. It is my belief that if I were elected, the wiki would be a better place as the Sysops would not be quite as involved with the red tape of bureaucracy: blocking only when no sysops are online or other sysop actions...
The thing about uniqueness in a wiki is that in the end, we're all working to the same goal. Even major trolls usually have a plan to try to make the wiki better. I sympathize with them and I would be more inclined to call them "radical thinkers". I would give them an alternate way of letting their ideas be heard, rather than let them be disruptive. I even believed the page movements of HALP VANDALISM was - in a way - positive for the wiki as it made it better. Sure there are better ways, we must always at first Assume Good Faith. I would give such a disruptive user well reasoned and evidence if they could not execute their plan as originally thought . If the user continues to be disruptive and an ArbCom is called, I will analyze the situation based on the case in point and gather up the evidence and/or listen to the claims of the "plaintiff(s)". I don't see anything wrong with how ArbCom is handled now, so I see no reason to fix it. If it is realized that it should change, I will do my best and work with the users on how to best proceed.
Hope I answered your questions to your satisfaction. If you have more, please ask! --Antioch 06:32, 17 October 2008 (UTC)
