Proposal[edit]
Apparently, this is thought of as a proposal, rather than an accepted policy. Can we tag this with {{proposed policy}}. -- ab.er.rant 10:27, 17 May 2007 (EDT)
- This is just a copy of the ArenaNet privacy policy - since this is technically on the ANet servers, it needs to be here (I guess). It's only referring to RL privacy issues, i.e. address and real name information, and not disclosing anything that you send them, so there really should be no objections - especially as it really shouldn't affect anything we do on the wiki at all. While I'd rather not have this page here (since it doesn't affect us), it seems ArenaNet needs to have it for legal reasons, so it stays =P MisterPepe talk 12:56, 17 May 2007 (EDT)
- If it (IF) it needs to stay here in this form, it should stay in some hidden closet (i.e. not prominently linked on the policy page), waiting in case some layer needs it. This page does not address any wiki relevant issues (participating in contests? disclosing your address???) and is very different from how a real wiki-privacy policy could look like (should we ever decide we need it). --Xeeron 19:57, 17 May 2007 (EDT)
Accepted[edit]
Long accepted, shouldn't be listed as a propsal. Don't need if it needs to be listed at all, since it's mostly, N/A. Backsword 13:37, 14 October 2007 (UTC)
- This is not accepted. Some of it is even factually wrong. --Xeeron 21:01, 14 October 2007 (UTC)
- It always has been; it predates our policy on policies. Something we inherrited from anet. (Eg. it's in our category for accepted policies.) Backsword 11:05, 15 October 2007 (UTC)
- Wrong. It was moved to policies on feb 23rd, our policy on policies was made official on feb 11th. Read the above section as to why this is where it is. Basically we keep it here, despite being mostly irrelevant and generally not fit to be policy, because we think that it might be legally needed for ANet to have such a page on the wiki. --Xeeron 11:26, 15 October 2007 (UTC)

Status of this page[edit]
This has given me headaches since the first time I read it. It has become clear to me that this can not be treated as a normal policy. It could be outright deleted without loss to the wiki community, but something makes me think that this is legally needed for Anet (and this is the reason it is protected). So the best solution I can come up with is keeping it here and keeping it protected, but remove it from the wiki policy category. It is not a wiki policy and should not be listed with those.
I'd like to ask a sysop to remove it from that category. --Xeeron 21:00, 14 November 2007 (UTC)
