Best class to start out with

It all comes down to user preference so you should get many different answers. I would say Elementalist or Mesmer. You learn Energy management at the same time you learn the game. Also if you would prefer Melee then I would say Warrior or Dervish. But as I already said its all user preference. If you dont like what you start out with then try something else till you find something you want to stick with. Dont be scared to ask for help. DrogoBoffin 07:29, 16 July 2009 (UTC)

The best class to start out with is PAY ATTENTION. Seriously. You'll experiment with classes and find your niche eventually, but the first thing you need to do is not stare at the skill bar waiting for searing flooms to recharge and pay attention. Blow up the compass to at least 1.5 times the size it starts out at, and glance at it every few seconds. Watch where things are on the main screen, and try to focus on what's going on instead of your skill bar and health bars. Those are important, but 90% of the bad players I meet are bad because they can't actually tell what's going on around them. Oh yeah, and unlock lots of skills. eye of the north

The quest to get to Eye of the north campaign can be obtained from 3 people all located in the different major towns... See Access to Eye of the north. The quests given by these NPC's however do have a min of being a level 10 character.MrPaladin talk 12:42, 16 July 2009 (UTC)

how do i restore core commands li8ke for comforting a pet

You also may have changed your secondary profession. If you are starting the prophecies campaign, you need to talk to Master Ranger Nente to get those skills back. ~Shard 22:01, 16 July 2009 (UTC)

About Hall of monuments, Switching simple acievments...

I recently did the stupid act of using my non-main to place mini pets on one of the alters at the hall of monuments. this is not the character I would like to attribute these pets to. Would it be possible to Un-dedicate these pets by deleting the character or through a GM? I really don't want to have to re-buy all my minipets. Since they arent actual character-based achievemnts, it would be less of a problem to change, right?

Hello i am asking for my wife, i bought her guild wars almost 2 years ago. my wife tells me that there are campagnes that do diff stuff as IE rit, sin you can dance in town and have spirits dancing with you, for the dervs there dance is diff as well and your paragons. The question i am asking is what game are those so i may purches them for my wife

Can't select hero

Logged on this morning, wanted to add Koss for a mission, he's greyed out in the drop down box and I cannot add him to my party. (He's lvl 20). Have tried switching to another character, map travelling, logging out of the game and back. He's available on my Ele, but not on my War. After completion of the Consulate Docks mission, Koss "goes missing" and is not selectable for some time. In order to gain him back as a usable hero, you must complete the primary "story" quests Hunted! and The Great Escape. To get to Augury Rock talk to Great Ritual Priest Zahmut who is standing in front of it. You also have to already beaten the 3 desert missions needed to Ascend. Elona Reach, Thirsty River and Dunes of Despair. DrogoBoffin 23:38, 20 July 2009 (UTC)

If you've already done what DrogoBoggin said, and you're still having trouble, you've likely overlooked the 3 tiles that you need to step on first. Once you've completed the 3 missions and talked to Priest Zahmut, walk east and step on the 3 tiles. This will give you the Divine Fire enchantment. freeze and screen blacks out

Disregard what Jope said. Contact support and they will help you find the problem instead of going through the trouble of uninstalling/installing and then downloading all of the content again and then it still might not work. I have had a problem similar to yours and I did what Jope says among many other things and it still didnt fix it. Support helped me find the problem in a couple hours, which is a lot less than reinstalling gw. DrogoBoffin 18:59, 21 July 2009 (UTC)

This is probably a bad place to put this, but...

My GW.DAT won't defragment. At all. I tried tossing it, then downloaded it again. Still won't defragment. It's not that important, but I'm an obsessive sunvabitch and it must be PYOOR-EE-FIED. Obviously, I didn't do anything stupid like try to defragment it while the game was running. Has anyone else had similar problems? --Jette 03:32, 22 July 2009 (UTC)

Defrag your whole drive. Or move your .DAT file to another drive thats empty or nearly empty and defrag it then move it back. DrogoBoffin 03:48, 22 July 2009 (UTC)

The only thing I can think of is not enough free space on the disc. (and I mean 1 big chunk of free space for the file, not free space overall) Defragmenting the whole drive should help. Also, you might want to try Contig with the Power Defragmenter GUI for defragmenting single files. I deleted enough crap to leave me with an extra 20GB of space or so, and it's mostly defragged fine (Though I had to keep using contig to do it, it would never go down to only 1 fragment until I did about a dozen times or so). I really think that it was because you lacked a big enough chunk of free space. IDK, there are certain things that won't defragment when windows is running, such as cache files, directories, system files... also page files are often placed in the middle of the disc. Maybe all that added up :/

I asked some people I know, and they have said they get this same issue -- one of them has 80GB left of space, so it would be absurdly unlikely he doesn't have enough space to defrag it. Should we add a note to the Gw.dat page? --Jette 03:33, 25 July 2009 (UTC)

This has nothing to do with GW.dat specifically, it can apply to any big file. The bigger it is the harder it is to defragment it properly. I suggest you do an Offline defrag if you didn't do it already. Also, I keep my games on a separate partition then my system and documents so they're easier to defrag. I also hope that GW2 will have a different file system, so that everything isn't in 1 big file, but in 10, 20 or so... — Poki#3 (talk) 11:43, 25 July 2009 (UTC)

How do I know which quests/missions I have completed

Is there a way to find out which quests/missions that I have completed? The first GuildWars Manuscripts manual says on page 137 that "The map displays available missions, and also tells you which missions you've already completed." Which map is the manual talking about? A quest that I have completed is Althea's Ashes but I can't find a record that I had completed it. I am not sure if I have completed any missions.

Mission completion can be tracked using your map, the mission icons change based on what level of completion. Quests, you are a bit more on your own, as there is really no in game way to know if you have completed a quest beyond the fact it will no longer be available to you. -- Wyn talk 02:13, 25 July 2009 (UTC)

You can sell items to the Merchant or to players. The towns used heavily for trading are Kamadan, Lion's Arch and Ascalon. You can also go to Guru Auctions, make an account and post auctions. DrogoBoffin 06:53, 26 July 2009 (UTC)

Old Woman River quest

Is it not possible to get the Old Woman River quest if you followed the Margrid the Sly story branch? It seems that the Rilohn Refuge mission is the pre-requisite for this quest but you don't get that mission with Margrid. 71.248.156.254 03:30, 28 July 2009 (UTC) Orllas

Since Master of Whispers is required for Rilohn Refuge you cannot get to the quest. Once you beat Nightfall you will get quests to get the heroes that you didnt get going through the storyline. Drogo Boffin 03:49, 28 July 2009 (UTC)

sunspear skill

I have a problem i bought sunspear skills but yet they dont show up under the title track. i bought the hero skill vamp but i cant use it whats the problem? it just don't show that i have it!

hello... I believe the skill you are refering to is vampirism, it will only be avaliable to you if you have Ritualist as either a main or a secondary profession, for more information on sunspear realted skills see Sunspear rank MrPaladin talk 17:32, 28 July 2009 (UTC)

If you have not purchased factions yet, you must do so to be able to use Ritualist as your secondary profession. yes, the only mish she has is the minister of chos estate lol. this is strange, i thought she might not have access to nightfalls, but she already did chahbeks village before. i went to nf with her, and the chahbeks village hard mode helmet is gold on the map.--david
