Maybe a little change?[edit]
Just putting it here, since it seems that with the increase of use of the welcome templates its becoming more common to start revert wars with users on their talk pages. (that and because a "you are violating GWW:USER" right after a welcome, from the same user, is not really nice).
Option 1: Welcome page right after account creation
Help navbar header == Welcome, $1, to the Official Guild Wars Wiki!== Now that your SITENAME account has been created, you must remember: :*If you are interested in creating a personal page or managing your Talk Page, check the User Pages Policy. :*If you are looking for creating an article about your guild, please first read the Guild Pages Policy, and be sure to follow our Formatting Guideline. :*If you have questions about the wiki, the game, your account, or any other topic, be sure to visit our Help Center. :*If you want to contribute with Guild Wars Wiki, but are unsure where to start, check our list of incomplete articles.
Option 2: Just redirect to the welcome page that already exists
#redirect Guild Wars Wiki:Welcome to the wiki
Option 3: Just spam automated templates
- Automatically create a talk page with the welcome template and an archive link.
Yes, i know that people may still just jump these pages without reading them, so it may be useless, but it may be a little less text on the recent updates page if lucky.--Fighterdoken 05:35, 24 November 2007 (UTC)
- I don't like option three at all, but I would love to do one of the other two and get rid of that automated welcome posting. - anja 10:25, 24 November 2007 (UTC)
- So, how about?
Help navbar header
- Now, if this pass, the question will be how to convince users to stop the welcome template spam...--Fighterdoken 18:12, 26 November 2007 (UTC)
- A page which has so much text and cannot be accessed again (only by the direct link) should not have a link list on the top :P poke | talk 18:46, 26 November 2007 (UTC)
- Well, the link list at the top can be accesed from other places, and i think we should be redundant in order to avoid having articles created as questions that should go into the Ask a X, but i guess without the navbar would still work. Even so, i would fell a bit worried about users with a short attention span who after reading the 2nd line just get bored and click on next->next->next.--Fighterdoken 18:55, 26 November 2007 (UTC)
