Sacred Flame

Spoiler alert: The following text contains spoilers relating to the story of Guild Wars Prophecies.

During the reign of the Shaman caste, the charr believe that the Sacred Flames are a sign of respect to their gods, the titans, and that if they ever put out the fire, the titans will unleash their fury upon them. The charr select a specific few from their warbands and legions, usually the bravest, most courageous or strongest, and they become Flame Keepers. The Flame Keepers, put into groups of four, are charged with the protecting and keeping the Sacred Fires burning for all eternity. The Sacred Flames are also a sign of courage, bravery and hope to the charr, when in battle and at home. The charr are united together when they see them and would lay down their lives for the Sacred Flames to burn on forever.
