Talk:"Devotion"
This should customize the pet to the character but should allow it to be used on other characters on the account. 66.239.250.209 18:42, 31 August 2007 (UTC)
- I've heard say that the minipets still become customized after adding them to the monument, but they Can now be put in storage and still used on other characters, just no longer traded to other accounts. Is there anyone who can confirm this? Liselle Morrow 12:55, 1 September 2007 (UTC)
- No they're still only usable for the char you customized it. --84.156.90.192 10:10, 2 September 2007 (UTC)
- What would make this more ideal is that, even after customizing a minipet, you can still sell the pet. The only thing the new owners should not be allowed to do is put it into their hall of monuments, but they still should be able to use them like before. Xapheus 02:59, 3 September 2007 (UTC)
Charmable Pets[edit]
Tried to add my Rainbow Phoenix, monument only takes level 20 pets. The Phoenix also only counts for the normal pet monument. Yukiko 09:24, 6 September 2007 (UTC
- You're in the thread for the wrong monument, but yes it seems the Rainbow Phoenix does not count as an elite pet o_O Liselle Morrow 08:52, 10 September 2007 (UTC)
only 20?[edit]
only 20 can be displayed or only 20 can be put in the monument?--Vhalantru 23:46, 12 September 2007 (UTC)
- You can put more than 20 minipets on it but only 20 will be shown, like the other monuments. --Mystic Gohan 22:47, 14 September 2007 (GMT)
How to improve this monument[edit]
Make this monument act like a Festival Hat person in that it stores your pets so that you dont have to carry around any but the one you want. This would free up a whole page in my storage box, and I'd gladly customize them if I didn't have to store them all in my storage.
Even better would be if having pets in this monument added a button on your skill bar (not a full sized skill icon, just a mini (bad pun intended) button) that allows you to select a pet stored in the monument and set it as the default pet. Then, upon entering an explorable area, the default pet is summoned automatically. Clicking this button will let you summon and dismiss the pet manually. This would free up storage space in both the inventory and storage box and would make miniatures used alot more.
Thoughts? DeathWeasel 01:06, 6 October 2007 (UTC)
- Both good suggestions, especially the freeing up storage part. Also, would be nice to see them roam around the platform. Brownspank 09:50, 22 October 2007 (UTC)
- I like both ideas, but i would like a little more decoration on the platform and mabye make the minis a little bigger.Briar 21:33, 26 June 2008 (UTC)Briar
- I like User:Brownspank's idea. Mini Storage would be good too x3 --Srakin 22:45, 13 July 2008 (UTC)

Customized VS Dedicated[edit]
Not sure when was it changed. I recently added a Mini Ceratadon to the Monument, and now it says "Dedicated at Hall of Monuments" as opposed to my previous pets "Customized for [name here]". I have tested it using other characters and realise it can be brought out by other characters from the same account. I know Anet is looking into this but I don't remember seeing a patch note about this. In any case, the previous "customized" pet should all revert to "dedicated" if such a patch is relesed. Lundfoci 12:52, 22 October 2007 (UTC)
- Patch note here. It already works as you mentioned - if you take your customized mini pets to the HoM, you may uncustomize and dedicate them. Erasculio 11:23, 22 October 2007 (UTC)

Tapestry Picture[edit]
I'm fairly certain at some point someone from ANET said that the picture on the tapestry was early concept art for some aspect of the game (destroyers maybe?), as opposed to the female warrior it speaks of on the page? Can anyone confirm this? -- Frozzen 01:42, 20 April 2008 (UTC)
- It also seems more like a puppet depicting a warrior, as you can see little cords attached to her limbsRhydeble 19:32, 20 April 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks to whoever remembered it was a concept for the Doppelganger and changed it. -- Frozzen 13:27, 24 April 2008 (UTC)
- Where was is ever stated that it was concept art for the Doppelganger? In the GW faction art book, it's shown under the concept art for Sorrow's Furnace. It's concept art for constructs hanging from the ceiling chains in the caves.--Darksun 17:28, 5 May 2008 (UTC)
- Then is it concept art for the Iron Forgeman? -- Frozzen 03:11, 7 May 2008 (UTC)

- I just found the concept art of this picture here. This page shows besides this only factions concept arts, but anyways i'd also suppse that it's SF concept art. —ZerphaThe Improver 17:30, 12 June 2008 (UTC)

Account vs Character[edit]
Wouldn't it be more logical if this was account-wide? -- Karasu (talk) 11:53, 14 June 2009 (UTC)
- Um, what? It is now if you want it to be, it's called Account Achievements view of the HoM. And there's no reason to make an individual monument permanently account-wide while others aren't. So no, I don't think it would be logical at all. Rose Of Kali 17:23, 14 June 2009 (UTC)
- I mean.. I don't want to get a series of minipets for each and every main. (If I want to finish multiple HoM's) -- Karasu (talk) 17:53, 14 June 2009 (UTC)
- Right, but how is that different from getting multiple elite/hero armors and Tormented/Destroyer sets for each and every character's HoM? This is exactly why they gave you the account view option. It even upgrades your Honor statue if the HoM is "full." Rose Of Kali 04:51, 15 June 2009 (UTC)

scoliosis or ropes[edit]

"The person in the picture looks like it is suffering from a Scoliosis[1], wich may imply that by "devotion", the conceptors tought of devotion towards sick people and people suffering from severe handicaps. Another possibility is that it is the devotion of a person with a grave handicap to his people, as, despite his/her scoliosis, the person in the picture struggles for survival for him/herself and/or his/her family and friends."
This small text explains how the monument could express devotion. I'm talking about scoliosis because the person in the image seems to be suffering from it.
Scoliosis is here just to depict the person's handicap.
and I don't think a marionette or a suspended armor ahs anything to do with devotion.
do you?--Tipttt 15:20, 7 September 2009 (UTC)
- Yeah... the person in the monument is in knights armor and is waving his sword. As if, in an act of battle.
- And how the fuck does Scoliosis related to Devotion, except that you need to devote to that person or what not? If you want to discuss speculations, bring them on the talk page, and don't revert war on the page itself. Titani Ertan 15:24, 7 September 2009 (UTC)

Tell me how, if it was an abstract artwork, wich it is not, obviously, how would it represent devotion?
And his thing about scoliosis was in fact the most logic explanation for the painting.
In fact, as brilliant as you probably pretend to be, tell me where is the devotion in an old sorrow's furnace artwork representing a suspended armor.
If you cannot give an explanation yourselves, dont insult people because they try giving one.--96.23.149.81 19:16, 9 September 2009 (UTC)
- Tell me, does the image and the name have to be linked? If so, what does an oval shaped dude have to do with "Doom" or how can it be that the Asuran Scythe is bigger than the Asuran itself? For all that we know, the picture can be a magical armor made of fairy dust which Elfs farted.
- Umm, no, it's not. I fortunately don't have any experience with Scoliosis, but saying that a person in an armor has Scoliosis, then gee, all knights have Scoliosis. And if it's the hands, then all armor have Scoliosis. For examples of how you can take something and make it sounds so unlinked and yet somehow related, see my example above.
- Also, referring to yourself in third person is fail. Titani Ertan 13:08, 10 September 2009 (UTC)
the fact that im reffering to myself in third person is because im, sometimes, talking about tipttt wich is my wiki account.

- So? Titani doesn't understand why you do this; he simply doesn't. <---This makes much sense?
- They can't ban you for posting; they can only ban you if you break the rule. And if they didn't include your IP, they can't ban you from the wiki completely; I think.
- Read the Abaddon page.
- They're not bigger than the wielder. Ever wielded a Scythe that's both longer and wider and the blade is bigger than all of you? Well, that's the Asuran Scythe for you.
- What? Asurans have their weapons tuned down when they wear them? Where do you get this information from? FakeGWStories.com? Titani Ertan 19:07, 10 September 2009 (UTC)
i got the asuran weapon size information from what i saw, but i don't pay much attention to what my heroes wear.
and i never put a scythe on vekk because i never use him, i prefer zhed, and he is an elemntalist anyway, so he usually wears staves.
what is the point of hte abaddon's page?
who is titani?--96.23.149.81 20:18, 10 September 2009 (UTC)
- Oo wow... seriously... it's a marionette... I always thought devotion was a bad name for this monument but I could mean the fact that you only get minipets from prolonged playing of the game from yearly gifts... seems like enough devotion for me to have a character for a year... Spreadsheet[edit]

Maximum total number of miniatures that can be added to Devotion?[edit]
Has anyone bumped their account into a maximum number of miniatures that can be added to the monument of devotion? As of today, there are 111 that can be dedicated (unless your name is Gaile!). Assuming there continue to be annual releases of 14 each year along with celestials and/or others, I'm worried they might've put an arbitrary limit lower than 250 which could prevent people working toward a full collection from realizing their digital dream. Darius Shalnin 21:00, 14 December 2010 (UTC)
- Let's say they add 20 new ones per year (14 birthday, a celestial, 3 from new content, and 2 from contests). That means over five years before anyhow has to worry about an arbitrary limit of 250. With any luck, at that point, GW2 will be 3+ years old, so how many people do you think are going to run into this issue? — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 21:23, 14 December 2010 (UTC)
- I was actually throwing the question out there to see if anyone has already discovered an undocumented maximum that can be added to the monument which is less than the current number of available miniatures ('arbitrary limit lower than 250' which if discovered currently would mean less than 111) based on the experience that programmers are not always the most logical of creatures (at least according to my logic). For example, how are stacks of 250 as opposed to 256 or perhaps even 255 logical in a digital world even based on the explanation of additional space required on servers as opposed to a more realistic argument of economical manipulation in the digital and real world. Perhaps there is a limit that has been intentionally or accidentally imposed, and if it's intentional, perhaps it would be a clue to some other type of reward for 'complete' sub-collections of minis based on years, types, etc. which may or may not even be finalized or yet conceptualized in beta world? Just hypothesizing based on a comment from an alliance member who wasn't sure if they could even dedicate more than 50 miniatures on an account (and why would we want to based on what we think we know at this time), so I thought it would be better to post a postulate prior to possible posthumous permanent pitiableness. Darius Shalnin 21:58, 14 December 2010 (UTC)

How does this work to increase points for GW2?[edit]
I am trying to build up points for GW2. Do you stuff all your minis on 1 character and try to fill that one character's HoM statue? Or do you spread your minis around all of your characters? I think once you get a few in the HoM for a given character, you can't add any more. There is a generic statue of a bear or something. Thanks. Breeze Aura. 12/16/2010
- It's easier to keep track if you concentrate on a single character. Otherwise, it's all too easy to add the same mini. There does not seem to be any limit to how many minis you can add. We know that many have added 50+ and at least one reliable source has reported dedicating 68.
- The fellowship monument (the same one you have for heroes) does have a generic pet statue and you are limited to how many animal companions you can add: generic, Black Widow, Black Moa, and (Imperial) Phoenix. However, if you first drop these off at the menagerie, it's easy to add the same pet for each toon on your account. — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 08:24, 17 December 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks - that makes sense. And looks like I got pets and minipets switched up a bit there:) Appreciate the help. Breeze Aura 12/17/10
- TEF, you don't consider the official calculator a "reliable source" for the 108 number? :P Rose Of Kali 02:01, 18 December 2010 (UTC)
- I consider you a more reliable source :-)
- To be fair, the HoM Calculator is a nifty piece of code. But I do worry about QA after seeing NPCs go missing every time there's a festival decoration added — we know the calculator thinks you can add 108, but can you actually do it in the HoM itself? Very likely, but I won't be 100% convinced until you've collected them all and updated your user page to let us know ;-) — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 02:35, 18 December 2010 (UTC)
- Well, it doesn't just think that it's possible, it thinks that White Wasabi already did it. :P But I digress. XD Rose Of Kali 16:10, 18 December 2010 (UTC)
- Oh? I hadn't seen a post by the Wasabi of Whiteness (I think that is quite relevant and reliable). Thanks!
- (On the digression side, if you open the HoM, you'll notice you can add over 140 unique miniatures by clicking on the relevant button in Unobtained Items; since there are fewer than 50 uniques + rares, without an actual toon name to check, I wasn't ready to call the HoM a reliable source.) — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 16:31, 18 December 2010 (UTC)
- So expandability and reliability are different right? I have 89 dedicated btw. Catch up Rose! ;P Sardaukar 04:42, 19 December 2010 (UTC)
- Heh, I will once I like the price of 5th year minis. :P I'm about to get my first one on my necro in a couple of days. I'm just trying to keep some liquid cash for lockpicks, Treasure Hunter looks to be what'll get me to GWAMM. Given that I pretty much don't play anymore, outside of weekly Nick hunts, I gotta manage my money. And White Wasabi never posted about this that I've seen, I just looked her up in the Calculator. Rose Of Kali 15:34, 20 December 2010 (UTC)
- re: expandability: We know (because it's easy to check) that the HoM Calculator is expandable, but we don't know how much the HoM itself is. Non-ANet staff won't be to check that out until there are 6th year minis (and folks like White Wasabi have enough toons or cash to acquire them all quickly). (PS Gz Sardaukar — 89 is an awesome number. How many of those did you trash after dedicating? How many occupy slots on storage toons?) — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 17:06, 20 December 2010 (UTC)
- Oh, the Calculator is totally expandable. After adding over 600 "Unobtained Items" to my Devotion wishlist across all 4 groups, I got tired of clicking and had to negate them all back... Rose Of Kali 18:01, 20 December 2010 (UTC)
- TEF, ahh, that cleared it up. I have kept all the minis and keep one on any character that may venture into an area where YAA! is used.
- Rose, yeah the price-gouging is especially ridiculous this year thanks to the HoM calculator coming out. Hope you get more minis cheap! Sardaukar 21:34, 20 December 2010 (UTC)
Bug?[edit]
I had 99 minis and added 7 more (6 celestials and the World-Famous Racing Beetle), yet my HoM calculator shows only 105. Any ideas? Sardaukar 00:17, 2 February 2013 (UTC)

Trying to understand dedications[edit]
The article says:
Any character can use a dedicated miniature, but it cannot be added to the Devotion monument for any other character.
What does this mean exactly? Does each character in an account have a separate Devotion monument? If yes, why is that even necessary? Aren't minipets shared by all characters in an account anyway?
Also, is there any way to dedicate minipets in Pre-Searing Ascalon? --175.142.94.152 02:25, 5 November 2015 (UTC)
- The quote means that dedicating a miniature will still allow you to display it when playing the game normally (i.e. with a double-click you will have the miniature walk around you like usual), but you cannot dedicate it again in another HoM. This is to prevent people to dedicate a miniature twice. There is no way to dedicate anything in pre-Searing bar a few titles, such as LDoA (which can be "dedicated" by talking to Kimmes the historian in Ascalon City). As a matter of consequence, all pets in pre-Searing are guaranteed to be undedicated.--195.221.202.185 08:12, 5 November 2015 (UTC)
- Every character does have a separate HoM. If you speak to the historian in that room, he can switch between account wide achievements and personal. Wendy Black 10:22, 5 November 2015 (UTC)
