How come there are people in HA typing the "N" word all day and don't get banned? Even when he got reported by 10 players, and someone else uses a name that majority don't consider offensive and gets a straight ban? I don't understand when i report someone or my friends they never get banned. When someone reports me, it's straight ban, Anet has preferences/friends in game? Or its a fair and equal system to everyone?

It's a problem with society, not just the game. There are certain words that imo, society has decided aren't really 'that' offensive, when in fact they really ARE that offensive. Unfortunately, we are all just player like yourself, if I were you, I would post on Gaile's talk page and let her know how really offensive you find that behavior, and ask her, as part of the support team why it's not considered a serious issue.--Wyn's Talk page Wyn 14:21, 4 August 2008 (UTC)

Anet won't do anything. Ever. People will just have to make due with Anet's focusing on money concerns, and report people when they start insulting people. And by the way, 10 people is enough to make a ban, just have to wait a wee bit. Though personally, I think reporting should be left alone for flamers, not people making jokes, chilling with friends, etc. If someone says "N", if they're being insulting, then report them, though I don't see why a single word can be so offensive, especially if it's typically used as an expletive. Could you imagine getting banned for 3 days due to saying darn, dang, or shoot? It's the same meaning as the "S" word, "F" work, and "D" word when making a simple exclamation. ANet does not do "nothing". I got my account suspended, I am presuming for a disallowed character name Sarcastic Wiseass, and that "ban" happened within a week or so of using the character in game. I have seen characters with names a lot worse than that hanging around for probably close to if not over a month and nothing being done. ANet does things, but sometimes there seems to be no rhyme or reason to what they do. I cannot, nor do I attempt to, speak for anyone else on this, but I do feel that using racial slurs such as the N word as you said should be a bannable offense, under the terms of verbal abuse. Regular swearing, I don't think should be reported and DEFINITELY don't think should be bannable. Just because someone is too lazy to use a language filter, wait, I mean a PROVIDED language filter, and they report someone for swearing, that isn't right. If I am using a program and it has a language filter, and I am too lazy to turn it on, and swearing offends me, I have enough common sense to blame myself for not making use of it, not expect everyone near me to stop swearing just because I might not like it.

How and where do you submit an appeal[edit]

It says on the page that if you feel a naming ban was put in place unfairly, then you can appeal it. It would have been nice to have a link to where you would appeal it, or a link to a page that had the steps you should follow to make that appeal. Also, since you cannot get into the game while under a "ban", and from within the game is the easiest way to get to these wiki pages, unless someone thinks to bookmark a GWW page while able to get to it from the game, it could take a huge amount of time to find this site from outside the game access.
