Location[edit]
looks like this boss does not have a certain place where you can find him, he seems to run around in the green south-western part of the fells. and even there i didn't find him^^ Zerpha The Improver 12:18, 10 September 2007 (UTC)
- Every other time I've gone into Varajar Fells, I've found this boss wandering somewhere in the south-western corner of the map, as one would expect. But today I found him in the north-eastern corner: [1]
- I wasn't ready to kill him yet, and I was under Hunt Rampage, so I didn't follow him to see what his new patrol path was. But when I caught up with him again, he was outside Olafstead.--Mme. Donelle 15:21, 22 January 2008 (UTC)
- I tried for his elite, and couldn't find him: [2] 71.225.197.82 23:43, 23 November 2008 (UTC)
- If you leave from Verdent Crescent and run north out of the Cave, he'll be just north or east of the entrance. Don't believe me? Hold Ctr when you zone. He's always there. ~Blane Deathkiss 3:27 10 March 2009
Farming this Boss[edit]
Over the past day or so, i've been farming this boss inparticular for the scythe. I've also been updating the wiki on what he's dropped other than the scythe. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Arquillius (talk).
- And I just removed some of them and fixed the formatting :) Scrolls, most weapons, keys and such are all common drops, so most everything drops them. We only document unique or really rare drops, items for collectors, and crafting materials. See GWW:NPC for more info. Thanks. -- ab.er.rant 14:57, 24 March 2008 (UTC)
- Anyone know the droprate of the scythe? RgNoTagachi 19:02, 10 March 2009 (UTC)
- Anyone know how to farm it? :s Cow 07:09, 20 April 2009 (UTC)
- he's not dropping his scythe. farmed him 60 times in HM, lawls--12.198.157.135 08:10, 14 July 2009 (UTC)
- update, 200 times in HM now. no scythe--12.198.157.135 03:22, 15 July 2009 (UTC)
- what are you using to farm him other than perma? And yeah everytime I have killed him he never drops this scythe and I have never seen it sold, so I would wager this is an extremely rare item. Honestly I'm getting sick of these impossible items to obtain when they keep nerfing our farming builds and making it virtually impossible to obtain them unless you're a perma, which that too might goon the nerfblock soon <sigh> Nay the One and Only 07:04, 31 October 2009 (UTC) Nay the One and Only 06:58, 31 October 2009 (UTC)
- update, 200 times in HM now. no scythe--12.198.157.135 03:22, 15 July 2009 (UTC)
Clocking[edit]
I just clocked him doing his entire circuit in NORMAL mode in 2 minutes and 37 seconds. Anyone else find out he's going faster than normal? -- UglyLooking 22:04, 27 September 2008 (UTC)
- Ther are quite a few bosses that have faster-than-normal movement speed, thats kinda one of the things that make them bosses Nay the One and Only 17:45, 8 November 2009 (UTC)
Travel direction?[edit]
Can anyone document whether Asterius & gang tend to travel clockwise or counter-clockwise?--The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:209.204.188.144 (talk).
- In my experience he travels clockwise, but he sometimes has such a massive patrol that even that doesn't matter.- TheRave (talk) 16:55, 1 October 2008 (UTC)
- I've farmed him over 100 times and he travels counter- clockwise as you look at the map. Blane Deathkiss 3:18 10 March 2009
People talk but no leads on to how?[edit]
I have tried a A/E ( with a bonder mo hero) , a 330Rt, a 55 Mo and can seem to overcome the life-stealing and attack the spawns around the boss.
Trivia[edit]
[3] is saying there where two people in greek mythology called Asterion, the second is the bull refered to in the trivia note. The first is also called Asterius (like our Beserker here) who assumed the form of the Cretan bull of the sun. I'm no expert on greek mythology, but the way I'm reading it the trivia is refering to the wrong person (a minotaur instead of a bull). To prevent an edit war, please comment here...Rumian 12:13, 5 August 2011 (UTC)
- Wikipedia is...vague. The Asterion article is poorly written, as it obscures the fact that Asterion was a name of a Greek king of Crete, who was father to Minos, who himself created the Labyrinth with a minotaur at its center. The Minos article shows additional scholarly confusion, as some aren't sure if that was his title or his name (plus: there's disagreement over the origins of Minotaur). In addition, both articles suggest that the association with Asterius and stars and/or mythology came after the Greeks. In other words, it appears (by my reading) that the king came first, the myths came later.
- I've attempted to rephrase the trivia accordingly. If someone has a better source, please add it here (and clean up the trivia accordingly). — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 17:39, 5 August 2011 (UTC)
