Talk:Avatar of Balthazar
Is it just me or does this skill's picture look like King Leonidas from the movie 300?
- This was around before 300, not everything is a reference in this game. -- Luigi (T/C) 09:28, 14 October 2007 (UTC)
I think there is a bug with this form (haven't checked all the others), but when it ends and you are autorunning (R), it cancels the movement, but resumes it if you move your view camera (or movement direction if you were running) with right click held and mouse movement.Krothal 18:18, 27 February 2008 (UTC)
- That's the same situation with all Forms: "All actions (including skill activations, attacks, and movement) will be canceled when this form ends." The reason the dual mouse click doesn't affect it is because it applies repeated commands to run forward some short distance (as far as I can tell and infer) which translates to always running forward with the camera directly behind you. -- Mafaraxas 03:44, 28 February 2008 (UTC)
- I am not sure if it's the same thing or not... I am not talking about mouse movement, just auto-running forward using the R key. When the form ends, your character stops. It can stay there as long as you don't swing your camera view around. If you hold the right mouse button and move the mouse, the character resumes it's auto-running.Krothal 16:14, 28 February 2008 (UTC)
- Oh I see. Not sure about that, I'll have to test that later. -- Mafaraxas 00:04, 29 February 2008 (UTC)

To be fair, 300 Spartans was made long ago sir. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:61.69.196.118 (talk).
- I do believe it IS a reference to the 300 novel made before the game, just after the novel was released, people did concept art of the Spartans and King Leonidas was drawn almost the same as the man in the movie, it's possible Anet found this picture and used it. It makes sense though aswell, because the Avatar of Balthazar is like a King, what with the increased armor, speed and deals holy damage. ~Tengu
Can you stack any other armor buff with this? I know you cant receive more than +25 armor except from single spells. but I was wondering, because it is a "form" 202.124.127.38 22:13, 11 April 2008 (UTC)
- I would assume no; whenever something says +AL the +25 restriction for multiple sources comes into play. It would stack with non-armor-boosting sources for damage reduction (e.g. Mantra of Flame), though.-- Mafaraxas 03:50, 14 April 2008 (UTC)
If by look like King Leonidas you mean look nothing at all like King Leonidas, then yeah, sure. Seriously, this doesn't even REMOTELY resemble anything from 300; comic, movie, or otherwise. 68.51.83.92 19:00, 22 September 2008 (UTC)
- You haven't seen the movie have you? Let me give you a hint of where he looks like this: THIS IS SPARTA! Paddymew 16:49, 30 April 2009 (UTC)
Conjure and this...[edit]
Okay, so. I have lightning weapon, with conjure lightning.. Then I use this form. How's the damage calculated? Halogod35 04:18, 22 April 2008 (UTC)
- Your attacks now deal holy damage, and you get no benefit from Conjure Lightning, unfortunately. I haven't tested to confirm, but possibly if you changed into the Avatar and then switched to the lightning weapon it might work? Elder Angelus 20:59, 25 April 2008 (UTC)
- it could possibly work if he applies conjure lightning after using the form. The last applied skills have "priority" in general. —ZerphaThe Improver 15:10, 18 July 2008 (UTC)
- I think skills changing damage type will take priority over the weapon's damage type, so Conjure Lightning won't do bonus damage. It doesn't matter when you activate the Conjure; it says "wielding a lightning weapon", but it means "wielding a weapon that does lightning damage". With the Avatar up, it'll be modified to Holy damage.
- However, I don't know what happens if you activate a different skill that changes your damage type... Avatar of Balthazar, followed by Grenth's Fingers, with Conjure Frost active? Depending on how they stack, that might work if you really want to use a Conjure while in Balthazar form. -- Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 20:19, 18 July 2008 (UTC)

Armour Boost?[edit]
Can I still get more Armour after the +40 from the avatar? I'm not sure since its a form. 68.226.48.53
- nope, it gets you to the cap for multiple +AL. -- Mafaraxas 14:08, 5 January 2009 (UTC)
Bull****!!! Of course you can get more armor! For example using 'I am unstoppable!' will decrease dmg recieved further when AoB is on. 212.122.218.135 17:52, 21 January 2009 (UTC)
- "Armor enhancing skills do not stack beyond +25 armor; without this restriction a player could easily acquire an extremely high armor rating making them nearly impervious to armor-respecting damage. A single skill can still bypass this cap, but using further armor-enhancing skills will have no effect. If several skills are used which bypass this cap (for example Kinetic Armor and Armor of Earth at high attribute levels), only the skill with the highest armor bonus will apply." - Armor_rating#Overview

- fucker, i was about to do the same thing and you EC'd me QQ -- Mafaraxas 18:09, 21 January 2009 (UTC)
I know that there is armor cap but still skills like "I am unstoppable" or conviction stack with AoB, and if you don't believe go and see for yourself.212.122.218.135 20:45, 24 January 2009 (UTC)
- "I Am Unstoppable!" is currently bugged, regardless of AoB. Armor cap still exists. AoB and Conviction might be bugged too. Vili 04:08, 25 January 2009 (UTC)
Running[edit]
I dont know wether or not im crazy, but cant this skill be REALLY nicely used for running? you have 110 armor, move 33% quicker, and with 2 skills can keep it up! Or is there a reason not to use it Niccy 14:08, 13 January 2009 (UTC)
- I really think this skill is perfect for a D/Mo runner because you can have it up perm with maxed mysticism and use other skills too boost your health to around 1300! --XxGw2xX 17:13, 13 January 2009 (UTC)
- It just kept me thinking, wich other skills? i just dont see direct wich skills you might use. 86.80.183.215 22:44, 25 March 2009 (UTC)
- I'd still use D/A because it has no downtimes and an open elite slot. ---Chaos- 14:24, 27 March 2009 (UTC)
- Use Vos if you're going to run. Snares and KD are an easy monster solution to runners, and a quick fix against a fast character. 141.165.170.91 18:18, 22 January 2010 (UTC)
Frenzy[edit]
Possible synergy? :P Harrier 14:32, 24 May 2009 (UTC)
- IAS is capped at 33% I think. Can someone confirm this? 72.45.63.76 12:59, 28 July 2009 (UTC)
- Yes, it's capped at 33% increase. King Neoterikos 13:05, 28 July 2009 (UTC)
Synergy with new Armor of Sancity[edit]
I saw that if you have Avatar of Balthazar and cast Armor of Sancity, this combination will drastically reduce the most damage received to 0 Goril 19:32 12 August 2009 (UTC)
- Dolyak sig works too.so theres not much point adding it.--Neil2250 18:22, 22 January 2010 (UTC)
- Only warriors can use that effectively
Holy damage =/= Armor ignoring?[edit]
In the article for Holy damage, it states that most skills which deal Holy damage are armor-ignoring. Does this ring true for your attacks after having cast this spell, or is it more like Heart of Holy Flame, where your attacks are still armor-respecting? - Kall 19:51, 25 March 2010 (UTC)
- There are no skills that make attacks ignore armor (apart from set-damage attacks like Power Shot). Holy damage does generally allow you to deal more damage to warriors, without the side effects of doing less damage to rangers like elemental damage does (and the double damage to minions doesn't hurt, either). -~=Ϛρѧякγ (τѧιк) 20:48, 25 March 2010 (UTC)
- As far as I know, holy damage is neither physical nor elemental and so hits for your base armor, similar to cracked armor. I believe this to also be the same with chaos and dark damage 81.97.120.100 16:37, 7 April 2011 (UTC)
- Cracked armor reduces overall armor by only 20; armor-ignoring damage, erm, ignores armor entirely, so it does the same damage to AR120 and AR80 toons.
- The full quote is, "Most skills that directly deal holy damage are also armor ignoring." That doesn't include skills that cause attacks to deal holy damage, which would be indirect. And later, the same article states, "However, holy damage from weapons does not ignore armor (e.g. from wands, staves, or any weapon enchanted to deal holy damage)." So attacks made by Balth's avatars are simply holy, not armor-ignoring. — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 16:54, 7 April 2011 (UTC)
Horribly Nerfed[edit]
Aob is now utterly useless. My thoughts: for pve aob should have its original effect along with eternal aura, for pvp, aob can remain the same. I'm not really sure what a pvp version could be without being op. 70.145.246.222 22:03, 23 May 2011 (UTC)
- ANet doesn't read this. --ஸ Kyoshi 22:06, 23 May 2011 (UTC)

- Actually. Balthazar is one of the strongest Avatars for both PvE and PvP. its aoe burning provides great combos with multiple skills as well as other professions that benefit from burning foes. Such as Elementalist and paragon. The extra armor isn't as great as its original form, but this skill in my opinion is much more useful. Then you add the adrenaline increase and you have an amazing dervish skill! Too bad they had to nerf the 5 seconds of burning and 33% increased adrenaline gain.--Yozuk 18:08, 3 June 2011 (UTC)
