Talk:Canthan Peasant
Where can you find the bucket-carrying type? --72.194.109.3 05:46, 8 August 2007 (UTC)
Why do the females look so rich and males are beggers Zachariah Zuan. 21:56, 2 June 2010 (UTC)
The Gangs of Kaineng[edit]
Theres two types, well in hard mode there is, idk about nm versions
they have some special dialogue too along the lines of "we've had enough of this!" --File:User Chieftain Alex Chieftain Signature.pngChieftain Alex 16:34, 12 October 2011 (UTC)
- If you are referring to the 2 peasants that appear near the portal to the Marketplace, they aren't part of the quest, but are standard NPCs of Wajjun Bazaar. And I'm having a heck of a time seeing their skills. --Musha 00:47, 13 October 2011 (UTC)
- Nm. I see what you're talking about now. Researching... --Musha 01:14, 13 October 2011 (UTC)
- Fascinating. These guys are different enough that I think it is worth creating a new page for them Canthan Peasant (Winds of Change). If I have trouble incorporating it all onto this page I will go ahead and do just that. --Musha 01:23, 13 October 2011 (UTC)
Proposed Split[edit]
I propose we split the pages because, imo, the WoC versions are different enough from the non-WoC versions to warrant such a separation. They wield weapons, have varying professions, have their own quotes, etc. --Musha 04:07, 13 October 2011 (UTC)
- Naturally agree with split. I must ask, did you notice if there was a specific appearance for each build? (i.e. a different peasant appearance from gallery for each of the 4 peasant builds?) File:User Chieftain Alex Chieftain Signature.pngChieftain Alex 18:28, 19 October 2011 (UTC)
- You know, that's something I didn't pay attention to. Dang it. But I have a character at Architect of Corruption right now, so I'll be able to check on that in a little bit. --Musha 20:37, 19 October 2011 (UTC)
- I'm iffy on the split. I'll probably agree if there are certain models per build, but otherwise I'd like a conclusion to the discussion at Guild Wars Wiki talk:Community portal#Shared name NPCs - when to split, when to merge, since it is about this very kind of split/merge situation. Konig/talk 21:39, 19 October 2011 (UTC)
- Well. 6 different skillbars. 4 different primary professions. the WoC spawn in different locations. different quotes. the image box linking to the gallery section is the only iffy thing here.--File:User Chieftain Alex Chieftain Signature.pngChieftain Alex 21:42, 19 October 2011 (UTC)
- There are, in fact, unique models for each build:
- = warrior, = ranger, = assassin, = monk --Musha 22:39, 19 October 2011 (UTC)
- Location and dialogue is easily separated and little means for a split - especially sense the NPC (name) is seen in so many places in Factions anyways. The model thing, however, shows to me that they could easily be split (but, imo, only between Factions (left as is, as it'll be the most commonly seen NPC version) and Winds of Change (add a "(Winds of Change)" to the end, obviously). Konig/talk 02:50, 20 October 2011 (UTC)
- That's exactly what I was thinking, too. --Musha 08:55, 20 October 2011 (UTC)

- They are all...peasants, unnamed lackeys of the imperialist warmongers...erm, soz, wrong speech. It's easy to show multiple builds/skins in an article. The question is: when people are looking up Canthan Peasants (or following a link), do they really need to click on four links to see 'em all? Is there really that much to learn about Canthan Peasants that we want to distinguish them? – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 09:07, 20 October 2011 (UTC)
- They may be unimportant, but they are still a completely different version of peasant, just with the same name. These guys are unique to Winds of Change and the only things they have in common with ALL the Canthan Peasants seen throughout Factions are their name and skins. We wouldn't need four different links; only one will suffice: Canthan Peasant (Winds of Change). We can set it up just like is done on Angchu Prisoner. --Musha 09:32, 20 October 2011 (UTC)

(Reset indent) Question: Does the Rescue at Who's Estate models match the monk in Gangs of Kaineng? I don't believe so, so by the criteria you're wanting to split them off with, you'll likely need three pages, and a page for 3 NPCs during one quest (and another page for NPCs during another individual quest) is rather silly when I look at the differences. I don't have any issues finding the difference other than models, which isn't entirely important for such a minor character. Again, I'm on the fence on this and would like a conclusion to the merge/split discussion as a whole first. Konig/talk 15:38, 20 October 2011 (UTC)
- @Musha: I'm not saying they are important or unimportant. I'm saying I don't see why we need to distinguish them, one from the other. Yes, there are peasants that appear only in WoC, but I would think we draw more attention to the differences by a single article that shows them all rather than forcing people to read even a second article.
- @Konig: I agree: let's see if we can resolve the general question first (again, my preference being that we establish solid rules of thumb). – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 21:16, 24 October 2011 (UTC)
