Talk:Death Pact Signet/Skill history
Hi there. I don't know if anyone can help me, but I cannot find the original version of Death Pact Signet. The version dated to February 1st, 2007 is the earliest I can confirm because it is listed here on our very wiki. The Unofficial Guild Wars Wiki, which does pre-date our Wiki by some time, has a page dating to the release version of Death Pact Signet, but because of changes to their system/codebase, it does not properly display it. I do know that the original version of Death Pact signet is correctly listed in terms of casting time, recharge time, and attribute (that being an unlinked attribute skill) on the skill history page. As per the first balance update adjusting this skill, "Changed to: "Resurrect target party member with your current Health and Energy. If that party member dies within 120 seconds, so do you."
Reading through some of the discussions on the talk page of the Death Pact Signet page on the Unofficial Guild Wars Wiki, the comments there which pre-date that balance patch do suggest that Death Pact Signet in its original incarnation retained much of the same functionality as it did after being adjusted, as in, it resurrected players for full health and energy, and had a 120 second window during which the caster may die if his resurrectee died.
The functionality might not have been adjusted at all during that balance patch, but instead the description may have been reworded for clarity. Either way, I have no way to definitively confirm this. If anyone has any screenshots or videos from Nightfall release showcasing this skill, or some other source, please share. Thanks. - The Internet Archive has you covered. Alternatively you can look at the history of https://guildwiki.gamepedia.com/Template:Death_Pact_Signet (note the Template: part of the URL). Either way: "Resurrect target party member with your current Health and Energy. The next time that ally dies, so do you." So it looks like the change was adding the time limit. - Tanetris (talk) 23:52, 6 August 2020 (UTC)
- Nice, thank you Tanetris. I've been avoiding doing the Nightfall skills because I've run into this problem with them persistently, but it seems these new techniques will allow me to complete them. Onwards to the remaining 668 skills. Soldier198 (talk) 00:06, 7 August 2020 (UTC)
