Diessa Icon "Nerf"[edit]
- → moved from User talk:Gaile Gray
Hi Gaile, in light of the recent Diessa Icon nerf or update, is there any chance the req 8 max weapons will be nerfed? These items are unfair to PvP chars as they need to use a req 9 weapon and most people don't have them on their PvE character as I don't beleive they drop any more. Anon
- I got one a couple of weeks ago in elona. A simple fix would be to make all the r8s and r7s change to r9 when entering a PvP arena. Not a massive issue though.. I can think of a whole list of things more important than a couple of people with r7 shields. — Skuld 11:43, 2 December 2007 (UTC)
- There was hardly a massive issue with the Diessa Icons either, yet it was changed. It could have changed when entering an arean too but it was nerfed instead. Anon
- Good point. — Skuld 11:53, 2 December 2007 (UTC)
- Or they could drop PvP gear to req 7 to match perfect PvE equipment. -- Gordon Ecker 12:01, 2 December 2007 (UTC)
- There has never been an alteration to existing 'random drops'. All changes to existing items have been to greens and collector/crafter items. I'd assume that means it's impossible to alter anything that was randomly generated. --24.179.151.252 12:20, 2 December 2007 (UTC)
- It would be easy, just make it impossible to spawn an inscribable max req 8, or appearently 7, weapon. Change anythign with 15^50 to have a minimum req of 9. Anon

- I can certainly include these comments in the Community Summary and we'll see what the designers have to say on the subject. -- Gaile 18:16, 2 December 2007 (UTC)
- I will seriously laugh my ass off if the r7 weapons that people paid millions for get "nerfed" to a r9. Not like r7 weapons matter at all....if you only have 7 weapon mastery, then you are still doing crap damage. --Deathwing 18:39, 2 December 2007 (UTC)
- But if you have 16 in it and have a req 7 weapon you're doing a few points MORE damage than a req 9 would. Thus the appeal of the weapons. I didn't know there was an issue with Diessa Icons...? Arlais 20:58, 2 December 2007 (UTC)
- Erm...no? Learn game mechanics --Deathwing 21:09, 2 December 2007 (UTC)
- The only real reason this would matter is on tactics shields. Some monks run tactics for defense and would gain 8 armor from a low req shield. Not very game breaking but still lowers balance. — Teh Uber Pwnzer 01:01, 3 December 2007 (UTC)
- If you beleive a req 8 or 7 weapon has no real advantage then you wouldn't object to the change, seeing as people would be losing no real advantage either. Anon
- Until now, these r8/r7 icons and pets were the only two things where PvElers got an advantage...I think the r7 Shields (which are EXTREMELY hard to get, as they only drop without inscription and need two inherent mods to be max and match together) are the bigger advantage. Higher tactics/strength does not boost the armor bonus. So if you've got a r7 shield, you serve 16 attribute points which can be spent in other ways. However, "perfect" shield without inscription are already rare. a perfect r7 shield is nearly unpayable. Changing all lowreq max weapons to r9 would be devasting for people who paid for such a shield... —ZerphaThe Improver 16:04, 3 December 2007 (UTC)
- sry, wanted to say: "except for lowreq weapons, pets, AND some weird bonus items..." —ZerphaThe Improver 16:13, 3 December 2007 (UTC)
- doh - AND some special icon skins which do uncommon damage, like Colossal Picks, Battlepicks or Jittes. But these needn't count - you can gain this items from tolkano... —ZerphaThe Improver 16:25, 3 December 2007 (UTC)
